Call of Duty: NEXT is a wrap, which means the first weekend of the Modern Warfare 4 Beta is underway, available on XBOX X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC to players who digitally pre-ordered the game. Switch 2 players can jump into the beta in Weekend 2.
Today's Call of Duty blog recaps Call of Duty: NEXT announcements, including a deep dive into Multiplayer's core systems, including:
- Movement: New Mantle Slide, Mantle Momentum, Mantle Steering, Supine Slide, Pipe Climb, Hang Shimmy, and Hang Lean give players more control and freedom to chain movement together without losing precision.
- Gunplay: Bloom has been removed from hipfire, weapon and environment now share a unified field of view, and refinements to recoil, weapon handling, and visual clarity (VFX masking, reworked depth of field) all sharpen combat readability.
- Create-a-Class: Operators and Killstreaks are now built into each loadout. Gunny returns to instantly recommend optimized builds, and Apex Attachments unlock unique weapon behaviors at max weapon level without eating an attachment slot.
- New Equipment: Trip Wire, Smoke Wall, and Razor Wire join the arsenal, plus the return of Riot Shield as a Field Upgrade and Bomb Glider as a new player-controlled aerial Killstreak.
- Prestige: Two paths at launch, Classic Prestige for the traditional reset-and-rebuild grind, and Regular Prestige to keep unlocks while restarting from Level 1.
- Modes and Maps: A look at Kill Block's 500+ combinations, the new Inflation mode, and the 12 Core 6v6 maps launching with the game.
- The Call of Duty Endowment: Valor Pack: The Call of Duty Endowment is honored to be partnering with U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Medal of Honor recipient, Kyle Carpenter, on the Call of Duty Endowment: Valor Pack. Coming day 1 on October 23rd to Modern Warfare 4.
