From Snail Games:
The Tempest update adds highly requested rain and wind effects, along with rebalancing adjustments and quality of life improvements.
These new weather effects aren’t just for show either, as precipitation now interacts directly with your ship and everything on it. Wet ship pieces and stored items gain weight and drag, certain stations can be inoperable if they're soaked through, and the world gets a moodier, rainy atmosphere to match. Each biome has its own separate cycle and rate of weather events, and while your ship and everything on it gains a wetness status while in rain, they’ll dry out once the rain lets up.
Wind is also stronger and more variable than ever, where sailing against and the current has much more of an impact. This is made especially prevalent through new wind effects. Furthermore, thrusters, sails, and weight have all been rebalanced with wetness/added weight and wind in mind.
Other quality of life adjustments in this update include a ship encumbrance bar adjustment where it now shows the weight to be added to the ship if you build something, as well as how much weight will be removed should you destroy something. There are also improved tooltips in build mode and on stations, now showing more details like weight and speed. Elsewhere, scrap metal piles will no longer spawn underground, and music and sound effects overall have been improved, tweaked, and tuned.
