Smilegate bringing pair of games to Anime Expo 2026

Dateline: 5/11/2026

Smilegate will be bringing Chaos Zero Nightmare and Miresi: The Invisible Future to Anime Expo in Los Angeles this July.

From Smilegate:

This year will mark Smilegate’s first time participating at Anime Expo, showcasing both Chaos Zero Nightmare and Miresi: The Invisible Future. Smilegate’s booth will host a variety of interactive events, including giveaways and cosplay activities. Miresi: The Invisible Future will also include a playable demo zone where attendees can experience the game firsthand. More details regarding the in-person event will be revealed on their Anime Expo page here.

“As this marks Smilegate’s first opportunity to meet North American and global users through Anime Expo, we are committed to delivering a high-quality and engaging booth experience leading up to the event in July. We also ask for your continued interest in upcoming updates shared through the brand page.” - Lee No-ju, Director, Smilegate

In the major Chaos Zero Nightmare update, players can expect:

  • Sortie Mode – This new mode expands on the game’s roguelike deck-building through evolving routes, shifts in party composition, and higher-risk “Fate” driven decision-making. Unlike existing Chaos mode content, Sortie removes save data entirely, emphasizing a strict run-by-run strategy.

  • System Overhauls – Changes have been designed to reduce repetition and improve long-term engagement, including Battle Skip Mode for Chaos content, reduced Chaos-mode fatigue, and major improvements to reward pacing.

    • The update also removes seasonal restrictions on The Great Rift Save Data Mitigation, allowing players to carry and remix past builds across seasons for the first time.

  • Season 3 – “A Song Rippling Through the Stars” introduces a new narrative arc set aboard the SS Edenity, alongside new Chaos content, Divine Epiphany cards, and the fully realized “Persona Cards” system.

    • A new Seasonal Combatant, Heidemarie, also joins the roster, featuring a unique “Link” combat mechanic that synchronizes and chains card effects.

  • Spiral Tower of Screams – The tower-climbing mode sees its full release alongside a strong Half-Anniversary reward suite, including a ★5 Combatant/Partner Selection Ticket and up to 70 free Rescues.

MIRESI: Invisible Future is an upcoming anime-style gacha RPG developed by CONTROL9 and published by Smilegate, which garnered significant attention following its showcases at last year's Tokyo Game Show and Anime X Game Festival. Particular excitement surrounds the involvement of art director Hyung-seop Kim (Hyeolla), who has a dedicated fanbase of his own. Promising a unique experience that combines real-time turn-based combat with time-travel mechanics, MIRESI will allow players to take part in an adventure across time to prevent the extinction of humanity.

Launched on October 22 of last year, Chaos Zero Nightmare, is a dark fantasy RPG with roguelike elements, developed by Supercreative and published by Smilegate. CZN now boasts a playerbase spanning 173 countries — including the US, Japan, and Korea — and will soon be celebrating its ‘Half-Anniversary’ with an offline event and a major update titled ‘ARISE’ set to be released on April 29th. Among the ‘ARISE’ update’s content will be the highly anticipated new roguelike game mode ‘Sortie’ and new seasonal Combatant ‘Heidemarie’. Players will also be treated to up to 70 free Rescues (summons) and a Check-In Event providing a 5-star Combatant and Partner, as well as the opportunity to complete 200 Selective Rescues, whereby they may perform 20 sets of 10 Rescues before selecting which set they wish to keep.
