Tombwater announces release date and updates demo

Dateline: 2/24/2026

An updated demo for Tombwater was released for Steam Next Fest, and the game's publisher announced that it will be available on March 31st.

From Midwest Games:

Tombwater ain’t for the faint of heart! Those of y’all who muster up the courage can look forward to spending about 20 hours of gameplay, across seven distinct player classes, over 50 firearms and melee weapons, and more than 20 spells, while exploring Tombwater’s extensive map and horrifying monstrosities.

The Tombwater demo will see players dive headfirst into the mouth of madness, fending off sanity-spilling Eldritch monsters and horrifying bosses as they traverse the town looking for their long-lost friend. Echoes of the abandoned silver mines below the cursed ground have reached the surface, gripping anything and everything by the tendrils of madness...and the longer they stay, the deeper they’ll drive themselves into insanity. Pacing and proper use of resources can make or break each battle against the evil spirits — between firearms and melee weapons, there’s an arsenal to choose from, and the right tools in the saddle bag will mean the difference between life and death.

Here are some notable updates included in the new Tombwater demo:

  • New Accessibility Options: Designed for those who don't like the "runback" aspects of soulslikes and prefer a more linear experience, these new options give players control over how difficult they want their descent into madness to be. A small mercy granted in a merciless world.
  • Combat Balancing and Updates: Along with improvements to combat balancing, the updated demo also adds new gameplay mechanics like the "stagger" combat mechanic, an added “look ahead” camera option, and new items in the shop.
