Ubisoft upgrades trio of Far Cry games

Dateline: 1/21/2026

60 FPS support has been added to Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and Far Cry Primal on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

From Ubisoft:

By leveraging the power of newer hardware, this update brings a second life to these adventures, offering smoother gameplay, enhanced responsiveness, and a modernized feel to the Far Cry franchise, just as the brand approaches its 22nd anniversary in March 2026.
Updated Titles Include:
  • Far Cry 3 – Revisit Rook Island with increased fluidity as you confront Vaas Montenegro, one of gaming’s most memorable villains. The 60 FPS boost enhances exploration, stealth, and the game’s fast-paced combat, making the defining Far Cry experience feel more immersive than ever.
  • Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon – Dive back into the over-the-top, neon-drenched homage to 1980s action films, now with smoother gunplay and traversal. The sharper responsiveness amplifies the game’s explosive, tongue-in-cheek energy.
  • Far Cry Primal – Return to the Stone Age and lead your tribe through the wilderness of Oros with more seamless movement, precise aiming, and fluid combat. The 60 FPS upgrade elevates the game’s visceral survival experience and lush prehistoric world.
This upgrade applies automatically to all digital owners of the games on supported platforms.
To celebrate this update, major promotions will be available on the PlayStation Store from January 21 to February 4:
  • 60% OFF on Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon
  • 75% OFF on Far Cry 3
  • 75% OFF on Far Cry Primal (Apex Edition)
These titles are also available at no additional cost to subscribers of Ubisoft+, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
