[23] Telephone
The telephone is an important function in this game. Without it, you can't do
a lot of things, including not ordering pizza! This is the most important and
cheapest product in the game and for the variety of functions that you can
pull off, its a blessing. Even those on a tight budget will be able to afford
these technological wonders.

[23.01] Other Sims
A new function. You can receive calls from other Sims. Answer the phone and
if you are the target Sim, you will talk to the other Sim on the other end of
the line. If not, that Sim will ask you if the target Sim is available to talk
with them. Click yes or no. Then you will talk. The longer you talk, the more
is added or deducted from your daily relationship.
You can also call other Sims. If they are home or you call at the right time,
you will get the chance to invite them over or talk. Invite over means that
you invite them over to talk, socialize, blah, etc. Talk is like answering the
phone, the longer you talk, the more is added to your daily relationship. This
is a great way to keep your friends together.

[23.02] Services
There are still services that you can order over the phone. Where would we be
without this ungrateful NPC's huh?

*Adoption Services*

You can adopt children over the phone. When you call the social workers, they
will let you adopt children provided you haven't had a visit from one of them
before. You can choose a baby, toddler or a child. They will come at 10am when
that time comes next.

*Bartender*

The bartender is the one that makes drinks using your bar that you should buy
before hiring the bartender. The bartender will make drinks and serve them
to you can your guests. When the guy runs out, the Sim will make more and
start serving all over again. The tender will only stop when the shift is over
or until you dismiss him.
The bartender has a base salary of �10, which you must pay and an hourly
salary of �15 which is added to the base. So if you hire the person for 5
hours, you have to pay �85, �10 for base and �75 for the hours.

*Exterminator*

No, he is not a freakin assassin. No he is not the terminator. He is the
dreaded, wait for it, BUG KILLER! You can stomp the roaches, you can spray
them with a green fart gas but he gets rid of them faster. Only thing he won't
take care of is your neighbours, no sorry wrong guy, he won't take care of the
dead roaches. You clean it up yourself. (I might have gotten the wrong call
card like Monty Burns but anyway ... )
The exterminator has a base salary of �10 and an hourly salary of �50. Four
hours work will cost you �210, �10 for the base, �200 for the hours.

*Gardener*

The garden is a cheap and useful service. The gardener will come in a blue ute
every three days. The gardener will water the plants that need water, trim
the hedges that are overgrowing and pull out those stupid weeds.
The gardener has a base salary of �5, which is kinda cheap and a hourly salary
of �10. So for 3 hours, you will only pay �35, �5 for the base and �30 for the
hours put in.

*Maid*

The maid is what the name inplys, the maid will clean. They will clean showers
and benchtops and not to mention baths. They will unclog you toilets, mop up
puddles and piles of dead vermin, pick up and clean dishes, dispose of trash
and rotten food, get rid of old newspapers, sweep up ash piles, clean the high
chair, and so on. Only the maid will not that the garbage out of the trash
compactor and place it outside.
The maid has a base salary of �10 and an hourly salary of �15. If you have the
maid for 2 hours, you will pay �40, �10 for base, �30 for the hours.

*Nanny*
*******
The nanny looks after your little baby or toddler when the parent wants it.
You can call the nanny just for now, which is just at this moment or track
your time slot so when you are gone, you have the nanny to look after your
little one. She will feed, bathe and change your baby. Because of this fact,
you lose your chance to teach to walk, talk and potty train. The nanny also
cooks, cleans, look after the house when not looking after the baby.
The nanny as a base salary of �10 and an hourly salary of �15. If you have the
nanny for 9 hours, thats �145, �10 for the base, �135 for the hours.

*Repairman*

The repairman is used to fix your broken things. They will fix TV, stereos,
computers, trash compactors, dishwashers, baths, etc. Its funny when they get
zapped by the appliance once, but it is even funnier when they get zapped
twice. They will not clean after the broken sink, tub, or shower if they leak.
The repairman has a base salary of �10 and an hourly salary of �50. If you
hire the repairman for 24 hours, you have to pay �1210, �10 for the base and
�1200 for the hours.

[23.03] Transportation
Here you can call for a taxi or invite a Sim to come over and go to a
community lot together. If you call a taxi, you have the option of choosing
who to go to the community lot. You can choose yourself, for the rest of the
family. If you have a toddler or baby, you have to have someone to look after
the baby. You can get one of your Sims to do it or a nanny. Then when you all
enter the taxi, you go to the neighbourhood screen and choose a community lot.
After visiting that lot, you go to the public phone and call for taxi. Then
you have the option of going home, or visiting another community lot.

[23.04] Work
Calling work is a new option in the Sims 2. You can call work only if you have
a job. You will receive two options when you decide to call work. You can call
in sick or quit job.
Calling in sick is basically skipping a day of work without using your
vacation days. You cannot always call in sick because that will defeat the
purpose of going to work. When you call in sick, your Sim will pretend to
cough on the phone, sneeze, etc. Your boss will fall for it and say if you
want to call in sick or not. Then you decide
Quit job means that your quit your job. You have a final option to quit and if
you quit, you quit for good.

[23.05] Emergency
Emergency means emergency. When you have a fire and for some stupid reason you
don't have a smoke alarm, you can call the fire department to rush to the
scene and save your life. You do the same thing when their is a burglar and
you don't have a burglar alarm. Don't play with these types of calls however,
you will be fined if you muck around.

[23.06] Delivery
There are two options with you choose delivery. You can call for a pizza or a
grocery delivery.
Pizza delivery costs �40. A person will come with a pizza ready to eat. A
pizza has several slices and it is a lot more expensive than cooking a set of
lobster which will fill up the hunger bar faster. A pizza has exactly 8 slices
and although it does not recover the hunger bar fast, your Sim eats it fast
and they will be saved from the brink of stravation.
Grocery delivery means you call for a delivery of food supplies. Depending on
how empty or full your fridges are, the price will be calculated. They is a
�50 delivery fee plus a charge on the groceries. A block is about �6-8 and
the more fridges there are, the more a block will cost. To order supplies,
click on the arrows above the supply chart and then order.
Both of these deliveries will take time so be patient with the delivery guy.
