Auto Assault Scorch on Auto Assault
Auto Assault will take car combat right out of The Road Warrior and into the world of massively multiplayer online gaming. Sound intriguing? It certainly does to us, so we asked Scorch over at Net Devil some questions about the game to bring you an inside look at the upcoming auto combat action...
GT: Please tell us a bit about the game's setting. Why exactly is everyone battling it out in cars bristling with weapons?
Scorch: Auto Assault takes place in a post-apocalyptic earth. Each of the surviving races is forced to make do with the technologies and resources available. Each race has created super cars capable of driving through buildings and waging war.

GT: Will the game's storyline evolve over time? How much control will
players have over the story's direction?
Scorch: There are always two stories in all MMPs, there is the story our design team is telling through the backstory and missions and then there is the story that the players create as they adventure. In Auto Assault, there will be plenty of opportunity for players to use their own experiences to create legends while playing in PvP. The ongoing story will also be influenced through the action of players in the game.
GT: What kind of MMOG is Auto Assault? Would you describe it as a driving
sim, an action game, an RPG, or as a different type of game entirely?
Scorch: A good description for Auto Assault is an Action RPG. There is not much
out there to compare the game to right now. We are working hard to make a game
that balances player skill with character advancement.
GT: What MMORPG elements will the game incorporate? Will there be
experience, leveling, classes, crafting, etc?
Scorch: Most features of today's MMORPGs can be found in Auto Assault including:
leveling and experience, classes, crafting, attributes, skills, missions, clans
(guilds), convoys (parties), a persistent living world to explore, community,
loot and currency, PvE and PvP, visual character and vehicle customization,
integrated voice chat, and more.
GT: Are there RPG elements in Auto Assault that are unique to the game?
Scorch: One really unique RPG element to Auto Assault is the split of abilities
and equipment. The character has the attributes and skills while your vehicles
contain your armor, weapons and other equipment that define your abilities in
the world. Players will keep different vehicles with different load-outs
depending on how they want to accomplish the current missions.
