Battlefield 2042 launches Escalation

Season 3: Escalation brings lots of high power, ground warfare-oriented content to the game, Season 3 ushers in a new map, Specialist, weapon, vehicle, and 100 tiers of Battle Pass content. Core content additions include the new Specialist, weapons, cosmetics and more – all available to players as part of the Free tier track in Battlefield 2042’s Battle Pass. Additional cosmetic items are earnable through a Premium version of the Battle Pass.

In Season 3, the fight is being taken to the untamed Swedish wilderness in the new Spearhead map. Dotted along the terrain are semi-automated manufacturing facilities of high tech weaponry. Players will have to navigate through close quarters and make tactical decisions to achieve victory – enhanced by the firepower introduced in Season 3’s new weapons.

High damage and more tactical stakes are the name of the game with Season 3’s weapons. The Rorsch Mk-4 Railgun features multiple firing modes in a cutting-edge package; players who can master its charging times will find a lot of versatility and power in their hands. The NVK-S22 Smart Shotgun is a compact semi-automatic shotgun, while the NVK-P125 Bullpup Pistol is specially designed for long distances. The Battlefield-classic Throwing Knives have joined the weapon roster as well.

Battlefield 2042’s newest Specialist Rasheed Zain utilizes his XM370A Airburst Rifle to flush opponents from cover. Suited to lead the front lines, Zain can recover and quickly recharge his health after taking out a foe.

Engage opponents in the new EMKV90-TOR Tank, which has multiple modes, allowing players to move swiftly with Mobility Mode or dish out damage in the slower Siege Mode. This game-changing tank features a detection system that gives players a heads up on incoming attacks.

Season 3: Escalation also brings new Assignments that offer players the opportunity to earn more Vault Weapons, such as the XM8 LMG and A-91, with even more to come in the future Season 3 updates.

Additional updates coming later to Season 3 include the highly-anticipated Specialist rework, featuring the move to a Class-based system and a set of balance adjustments, as well as reworkings of the launch maps Manifest and Breakaway.

New players can check out Season 3 and the rest of Battlefield 2042 for free for a limited time starting this December. Whether on Xbox, PC (Steam) or PlayStation, players will be able to jump into the game’s action, and multiple seasons’ worth of improvements and content. Free access will be available on the following dates:

• Steam: Free Weekend, December 1-5
• PlayStation: Free Access, December 16-23
