Halo 4

Today marks a huge milestone for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. After years of hard work by the team here at 343 Industries, we’re proud to announce that the final addition to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Halo 4, has officially arrived on PC for Xbox Game Pass for PC, the Microsoft Store and Steam. To boot, we’re also shipping a full set of optimizations for the Xbox Series XS to make sure you’re set and ready to dive through the Master Chief’s adventures like you’ve never seen them before. In addition, we’d be remiss if we didn’t note that we’ve still got a lot more in store for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

In Halo 4, humanity’s threat of extinction at the hands of the Covenant has been avoided, but things have gone from bad to worse as an ancient evil awakens. Stranded and shipwrecked on an alien world, the Master Chief must find a path back home while unravelling a sinister plot hatched by the Forerunners. Step back into the Master Chief’s Mjolnir armor to try and fight your way off a Forerunner world, while preventing the Didact from finishing the mission he began some 100,000 years ago; eradicating humanity.

Arriving alongside Halo 4’s stellar campaign is the full set of 25 multiplayer maps, as well as an updated armor customization system that allows you to change more pieces than ever before. Those looking for more ways to play can team up with a friend in the Spartan Ops co-op missions, which pick up with episodic story-driven content right where the main campaign concludes.

In addition to rounding out the PC collection, today also marks the launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection Optimized for Xbox Series XS. Those playing on the new consoles will have a full host of newly Optimized and updated features available to them, including:

 · 120 FPS in Campaign and Multiplayer on both Xbox Series X and Series S
 · 4K Resolution on Xbox Series X
 · 1080p Resolution on Xbox Series S
 · Improved Split-Screen Play
 · Adjustable FOV

Note that you will need a compatible display, but all the updates for the new consoles will be automatically applied when you launch your brand-new Xbox.

Now, you might be thinking that the arrival of Halo 4 concludes our Great Journey for Halo: The Master Chief Collection but that couldn’t be further from the truth. We will continue to deliver new features, updates, and new Halo: The Master Chief Collection seasons in 2021 (with even more customization options), so keep an eye on Halo Waypoint, as well as our Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. Once we’ve got news, you’ll hear it from us straight away. Lastly, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of our fans who have joined us along the way. We’ve been blown away by your love of Halo and your passion for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to share this moment with you all.
