Developed by Supermassive Games, the critically-acclaimed studio behind the cult-classic thriller Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures is a series of standalone cinematic horror games linked by one common element: that every playable character can live and every playable character can die throughout the story, yielding numerous possible endings and near-limitless replayability. The series, which is the first in Supermassive's horror catalog to be released on Xbox One and PC, challenges players to face their fears and uncover the secrets of The Dark Pictures universe, where every choice has potentially irreversible consequences. "We are incredibly excited to announce the Dark Pictures Anthology and the first game in the series - Man of Medan," said Pete Samuels, CEO for Supermassive Games and Executive Producer for The Dark Pictures. "With each title being a standalone game, we have the opportunity to create a unique horror experience every time, with new stories, settings, characters and cast. As a studio we have a passion to deliver powerful cinematic horror, and we can't wait for players to experience these new games across PS4, XBOX and PC. We have a great partner in BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment and we look forward to working with them to help bring these terrifying tales to gamers everywhere." The Dark Pictures - Man of Medan chronicles the adventures of a group of friends in search of a mysterious World War II shipwreck, whose holiday diving trip turns sinister as a storm slowly envelops them. With survival their only concern, the player must take control of the five protagonists and traverse the terrors of the sea, both to uncover its mysteries, and to live to tell their tale. "Horror anthologies have become incredibly popular in recent years, but this format has mostly been limited to the medium of TV — until now," said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. "With The Dark Pictures, we're bringing this compelling method of storytelling into the world of video games, and letting gamers take control of their terror with an unprecedented level of interactivity. Man of Medan is our maiden voyage into the genre, and it's a journey that players definitely won't want to miss." | |
