[36] Bug and Glitches
This section is devoted to the screw ups and the problems with the Sims 2.
This is not a guide devoted to piss off and annoy Maxis and how crap this
game is. A guide this size would not be this big if you have such a small
section on this. I mean, every game has a flaw in it. Nothing in this world
is perfect so how will the Sims 2 be prefect. It's not a perfect world people.

[36.01] Bugs
Cooking Bug
When you reach the prestige of a cooking skill of 10 which is the max,
sometimes you won't be able to cook anything beyond the first level. This is
a bug that happened to my teenage Sim in the game.
Kidnapper!?!
When visitors come to your house and you have a baby or a toddler, sometimes
the visitor will play with your baby, hold it and then take it away when the
visitor goes home. When they return, you'll never see the baby again.
Lazy Maid
When you hire a maid in your house, she will clean everything except take out
the trash from the trash compactor. What a lazy maid!
Art Bug
When you have your Sims do a still life painting, you have to take a snapshot
of the spot you want to have painted. Take a snapshot and minimize the Sims 2.
Find the snapshot in the My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Storytelling. Open
the snapshot.bmp with a picture editing program. Now screw up the file till
you like it but keep the resolution the same. Overwrite the old file with your
file and return to the Sims 2. Turn off pause and your Sim will paint what you
what created before.
Invisible Sim
When you reach the top of a career that bring you home in a helicopter, your
Sim might bring a friend. That friend will be invisible and you don't know
where it is. You can fix it by getting another guest and say goodbye to all
or you could just kill it.
Meditate
When you have a Sim in the toilet and meditates away, no one will use that
toilet because they believe that the Sim is still in there.
Grow Old Fast!
When my teenager grew into an adult, I saved the game, went to the house of
his girlfriend, and had her get married to him at her house. I had saved
the game before his "age meter" went down to zero again, and when 6pm hit,
he turned into an elder. (Fortunately, he and his young bride were still
able to have children.)
Serve the Ghost
If you serve dinner/breakfast between 8 pm and 6 am, the Sim will put out a
plate for each ghost which is active at the time. The ghost can't (or at
least didn't) eat the food, but was still served.
Not in Use Couch
A couch sometimes can't be moved. It can't be selected and it can't be sold
because something is going to use it but it won't. To fix this, start by
moving out then moving back in. Or use the move objects on cheat.
Unable Want
Teenagers have a want to write a novel. This is not able to happen due to the
age restrictions. I mean, how many teens right novels? None. The patch will
fix this up though.
