| In Short | In his search for John Conner, The Terminator somehow finds himself in the MK universe with a new mission. |
Along with the release of Mortal Kombat 11 (MK11) Neatherrealm Studios (NRS) offers a kombat pack (character pass) with a total of six upcoming DLC characters. The pass can be bought separate or in a bundle with the main game on all platforms or you can buy each character separately. The pass also includes extra skins and gear with the release of each character. Players that have the character pass are offered the characters 1 week before those that choose to buy them separately. The lineup of DLC characters are Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, The Terminator, Sindel, The Joker and Spawn. The Teminator is the third DLC character and the first of the three guest characters in the first character pass. NRS went with the most popular T-800 model for the MK11 Terminator – the one that Arnold Schwarzenegger always plays in The Terminator movies. The T-800 has been both both a good and evil character depending on the Terminator movie that you watch. He was sent to the current time by Skynet to kill the future resistance leader John Conner. In MK11, he somehow gets teleported to the MK era and decides that the best way to fulfill his objective is to beat Kronkia, so now he goes on his quest to defeat all the other fighters to get to Kronika. The Terminator has both a young and old look from the newer Teminator: Dark Fate and his past movies. If you’re a fan of Jason from MKX, the Teminator has an overall similar gameplay setup. Without a variation, The Terminator has a Sawed Off shotgun blast, a Gorilla Press Slam and a projectile parry (Killing Machine). The first two moves can be amplified – the Sawed-off Shotgun can be amplified to increase shots fired and the Gorilla Press Slam can be modified to throw your opponent forward and take more damage in the process. His first variation (Destroyer) gives him an air grab, a ground pound and a jumping overhead smash. The distance of the jumping overhead smash can be changed depending on the direction you hold afterward. His second variation (Dark Fate) has a new command grab (Albi Back Breaker) that takes the place of the Gorilla Press Slam, a dashing attack and a throw that can be performed in the air. During the dashing attack, you can tackle your opponent, cancel the dash or perform two types of melee attacks. His third variation (Final Judgment) has an Incapacitator grenade that takes the place of the shotgun attack and he can toss Ion grenades. The Incapacitator grenade is unblockable and once your opponent is hit, they cannot perform amplified attacks or make use of Environmental Interactions for a certain amount of time. The Ion Grenades that the Terminator tosses out will pop up your opponent and allow for further damage while the opponent is falling. As already mentioned, The Terminator is overall similar to Jason from a gameplay setup. He’s a powerhouse with few combo attacks and he’s slow and has access to different grabs. In his kustomization list, he also has a teleport, a move that gives him super armor and a revival move (Endoskeleton)– similar to what Jason had in MKX. Like in the movies, The Terminator isn’t too big on personality while fighting, but NRS gives him tons of movie references in his intros and outros. NRS definitely has the Arnold Schwarzenegger look down with his character model. Unfortunately, another actor does the voice of The Terminator and you can tell the difference, but it is an overall fitting voice. If you’re a fan of The Terminator, you’ll most likely find something to enjoy with him. | |
