In Short | The Forge DLC is a nice compliment to the main game and gives us more backstory behind one of Lara's new friends. |
The Shadow of the Tomb Raider season pass includes seven challenge tombs and seven weapons, outfits, and skills along with some side story missions. All of the challenge tomb packs include one of each of the features mentioned above. All packs are available in the season pass or sold individually for a small fee. The Forge is the first of the challenge tomb packs. The Forge is a collection of small story-based side missions (that is in the main game) and takes Lara back to the village where Abby lives. Side missions lead Lara and Abby through some fetch quests to find locations on a map that give them artifacts that eventually lead them to a tomb. One of the fetch quests takes Lara through a new crypt with climbable rotating walls. Eventually Lara must travel to a lava-filled tomb to discover the secrets of Kuwaq Yaku. The tomb involves a large tower that serves as a huge puzzle for Lara to solve in order to get higher to the valuables above. Lara must ignite gas vapors with fire arrows in order to solve many of the puzzles in the tomb. The overall side mission collection in the story mode lasted me for around 2 hours. The DLC has a few hidden items such as monoliths and documents. Players will be given a new outfit, a new skill, and a new gun for completing the side mission. The DLC has its own set of trophies/achievements to earn. The Forge is also unlocked as a score and time attack challenge tomb on the main menu. Overall, The Forge DLC adds some interesting story for Abby's character and a fun new challenge tomb for a small fee. Final Rating: 70% | |
