In Short | That familiar red demon with the stone hand, filed-off horns, and revolver is now a character in Injustice! |
The Injustice 2 Ultimate Pack grants access to the first and second of the fighter packs for DLC characters as well as all other fighter packs. The fighter packs contain an additional three characters that are added to the roster for Injustice 2 and the fighter packs can be bought separately or the fighters inside of them can be bought one at a time. The second set of three characters are Black Manta, Raiden and Hellboy. Hellboy is the third character of the fighters released for the second Fighter Pack. Anung Un Rama, also known as Hellboy, was called to Earth as a baby by Nazi occultists. This red demon grows up and becomes a paranormal investigator. His most distinguished characteristics are probably his filed-off horns and his large right hand made of stone (Right Hand of Doom). Most people, including myself, probably know Hellboy from the two movies where Ron Perlman plays him. Hellboy comes with his brown trenchcoat and standard sleeveless black shirt and jean shorts with knee pads on his legs and a glove on his left hand. He has his hair tied back and lights up with a cigarette every now and then. As usual, for Hellboy's appearance, his stone right hand stands out most of all and Neatherrealm sure does give it some use. Practically all of Hellboy's moves have him pounding his opponent with his stone fist. Besides a straight revolver shot and an angled revolver shot, all the rest of his moves have him using his stone hand. Hellboy has a ramming shoulder attack, an air grab, a jumping ground pound and a command grab where he hits his opponent with his stone hand. All of his moves can be metered burned for either an extra hit, to bounce the opponent or to make his gunshot faster. Probably the most interesting part about Hellboy is his character power. His character power will have him regrow his horns and give him a certain status enhancement based on how you activate the character power. The character power can be activated with a simple press of the button or by using a certain command then press the button. Hellboy can gain super armor, receive a damage buff, receive a defense buff or resurrect himself during a second round depending on the command you put in. His character is overall very useful, but it just seems that the resurrection time period goes by too fast and it's too obvious what you're trying to do before you die to make it useful. Hellboy is a super cool-looking character, but his move set is kind of boring compared to many other DLC characters. He lacks any sort of flash for most of his special moves. His super move is quite flashy as usual (he punches his opponent through the ground and into hell), but that is about the only flashy part about his arsenal. His cool look and overall attitude is what saves him from being a total letdown. If you're a fan of Hellboy, you'll find something to like in him most likely but special move-wise, he is quite boring compared to what I was hoping for. Even with all my complaints, I have to say, he looks to be hard to play, which makes him more of my type of character, so if I was playing more regularly, he would probably be on my roster of chosen characters since I prefer characters that are less flashy and hard to use.
