At the character creation screen, highlight the name selection and enter L1 - R2 - R1 - L2 - L1 - R2 - R1 - L2 - Square to unlock more character models.

At the map screen enter L1 - R1 - L1 - R1 - L2 - R2 - Triangle to unlock all items in the shops.
