Video Gaming News - December 2004
San Jose, CA (December 17, 2004) - Namco Hometek today revealed the
details on Tekken’s bonus mode in Tekken 5.
From Namco:
The action-based game mode allows players to enjoy the distinct game play of
the 20 million unit-selling Tekken franchise with use of renewed control
mechanics. Exclusively for the PlayStation 2, Tekken 5 is scheduled for a North
American release in Q1 of 2005.
Unfolding the side storyline of character Jin Kazama, the bonus mode brings
players more invigorating fighting action than ever before, including blasting
off or pounding a large number of enemies coming at them in mass quantities.
Players can also enjoy unique actions not allowed in the main game, including
the ability to move freely throughout stages, destroy columns and walls, jump to
the second floor, double jump to obtain out-of-reach items and hang from walls.
The bonus mode will also contain a number of strategic elements to challenge
players as they advance further along in stages.
Renowned for its variety of characters, amazing graphics and lightning-paced
game play, Tekken 5 promises to deliver the ultimate, most visually stunning
fighting game experience ever seen in a Tekken game. Tekken 5 brings back the
popular cast of characters from the previous Tekken games, along with three new
characters, for a total of 20 default characters to start and more to unlock as
players progress in the game. Tekken 5 allows players to use their fight money
to customize their characters with various accessories such as hats, glasses and
an assortment of different costumes. Each of the new characters are equipped
with a variety of deadly techniques, and the returning characters have been
updated with new moves and attack combinations.
