Video Gaming News - March 2004

Redmond, WA (March 5, 2004) - Microsoft today announced that Xbox Live gamers will have a chance to race against Fefe Dobson in the game Project Gotham Racing 2.

From Microsoft:

She can sing, but can she rule the roads in Project Gotham Racing® 2? That's the question several lucky gamers will face in the newest Xbox Live "Game with Fame" contest, featuring pop rock musician Fefe Dobson. Gamers who register at www.xbox.com/en-US/news/events/gamewithfame-fefedobson-main.htm by March 7 will get the chance to be one of the lucky hundred who are added to Fefe's Xbox Live Friends List. On March 10, Fefe will personally invite a few of those hundred gamers to race against her in Project Gotham Racing 2 between 5:00 and 7:00 PM EST. This event marks the first time a female celebrity has taken part in "Game with Fame," and Fefe intends to prove that girl gamers can tear up the tarmac with speed and style.

Hailing from Toronto, 19-year old Fefe Dobson has been impressing everyone for whom she meets and performs. Equal parts spunky punk, thrusting rock, and melodic pop, Fefe's self-titled debut has garnered major critical acclaim and spawned the hit singles, "Take Me Away" and "Everything".

Project Gotham Racing 2 is the follow-up to the smash hit Project Gotham Racing. Rewarding drivers for racing with speed, style and daring, Project Gotham Racing 2 offers circuit-based racing through highly detailed city environments. Racers can choose from more than 100 of the hottest cars - from speed-drenched exotics to sweet import tuners - while power-sliding through the streets of 10 exciting cities, drifting around corners and accelerating through the straightaways before moving to a different venue. PGR 2 now sets the standard for online racing via Xbox Live online game service. Players can match up against seven other friends online utilizing Xbox Live for intense grudge matches, or play the entire single-player game with online-enabled downloadable ghosts, real-time scoreboards, and soon, new downloadable cars and tracks. Nearly 200,000 gamers are playing PGR 2 on Xbox Live worldwide.

Xbox Live's "Game With Fame" promotion gives game fans the opportunity to play on Xbox Live against some of today's hottest stars. Past "Game with Fame" celebrity players include Big Boi from OutKast, Jonathan Davis from KoRn and the members of New Found Glory.
