America Inc. announced today its schedule of events leading up to Super Bowl
XXXVII in San Diego, CA.

The events, featuring the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system, 989
Sports brand, and NFL GameDay 2003, run from January 18 - January 26, 2003, and include 989 Sports'
8th annual "Game Before the Game" and the 989 Sports Locker Room Challenge. Sony
Computer Entertainment America also announced it is an Associate Sponsor of
"America Online Presents the NFL Experience at Super Bowl XXXVII" and sponsors
of the Best Buy Super Bowl XXXVII Concert Series, Maxim Magazine's Maximville,
Playboy's Fourth Annual Super Saturday Night, and Miller Lite and ESPN The
Magazine present Weekend Warm-Up. PlayStation 2 and 989 Sports' showcasing of
its popular football franchise, NFL GameDay 2003, with these marquee events will
enhance football fans' Super Bowl experience throughout the entire week.
The 8th annual "Game Before the Game" pits a top athlete from each of the
respective AFC and NFC Championship teams in a Super Bowl preview, playing NFL
GameDay 2003, the most exciting and realistic football game available for the
PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system. The winner of this game is an
amazing 7-0 in predicting the actual outcome for the Super Bowl, with Troy Brown
of the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots defeating the St.
Louis Rams' Isaac Bruce, forecasting the biggest upset in Super Bowl history.
Lynn Swann from ABC Sports and Pat O'Brien from "Access Hollywood" will call
this year's exciting action. This event is open to credentialed media only and
will be held at the W Hotel in San Diego on Wednesday, January 22 at 7:00 p.m.
"America Online Presents the NFL Experience at Super Bowl XXXVII" promises to
be one of the most well-attended events during Super Bowl Week, and PlayStation
2 and 989 Sports will have a strong presence throughout the week-long
attraction. Held at the Embarcadero in downtown San Diego, the NFL Experience
will provide the more than 150,000 football fans of all ages an interactive
theme park offering games, displays, and entertainment. Attendees will have the
opportunity to play NFL GameDay 2003 for PlayStation 2, as well as other popular
games, on the PlayStation 2 Touring Attraction. This 75-foot long gamers'
paradise features more than 30 PlayStation 2 units, an 80-inch video screen, and
numerous other large-screen monitors. In addition, the Locker Room Challenge
returns to the NFL Experience. Competing on the brand new 989 Sports Locker Room
Challenge On Tour Vehicle -- a 30-foot, state-of-the-art mobile truck featuring
a big screen TV, thunderous sound system, and realistic "locker room" setting --
eight consumer finalists will battle against each other to determine a champion.
The winner will receive a PlayStation 2 and VIP access to the NFL player portion
of the event. Furthermore, four current, marquee NFL players will compete, with
the emerging victor taking on the consumer winner to determine the Locker Room
Challenge Championship. These video game contests with the NFL players will
begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25.
An all-new concert series is coming to the Super Bowl this year, as
PlayStation 2 teams up with Best Buy, the NFL and Clear Channel Entertainment
for the Best Buy Super Bowl XXXVII Concert Series brought to you by PlayStation
2. Featuring major music labels, the concerts will be held at the Embarcadero on
Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25, starting at 7:30 p.m. Hosted by NFL
Players, including San Diego Charger Marcellus Wiley, consumers will be
entertained by some of today's hottest artists, including the Goo Goo Dolls,
with a spectacular fireworks extravaganza to follow the music on Saturday night.
Eve and Fabulous are scheduled to perform on Friday night.
Continuing its strong presence at the top events, PlayStation 2 will
participate in the most anticipated parties throughout Super Bowl week. For the
second consecutive year, PlayStation 2 is an associate sponsor of Maxim
Magazine's Maximville Event, held Saturday, January 25 at the WonderBread
Factory in San Diego. The party will feature more than 10 PlayStation 2 gaming
areas, with guests able to play some of the hottest titles available. The party,
attended by the biggest celebrities, NFL athletes, and VIP's in San Diego for
the Super Bowl, will transform the historic building into a miniature city
featuring dancing, a casino, and entertainment.
Another marquee event that same night will be the fourth annual Playboy's
Super Saturday Night. Transforming the historic Balboa Park into a Latin
rendition of the Playboy Mansion called Casa de Playboy, the event will feature
a lively mix of music and entertainment for top celebrities and athletes hosted
by Hugh Hefner and the Playboy Playmates with co-hosts Carmen Electra and Tom
Arnold. As primary sponsor and exclusive gaming partner, PlayStation 2 will have
interactive kiosks and popular titles available for gameplay, giving attendees
the opportunity to experience the excitement of PlayStation 2. In addition,
Playboy Playmates will be challenging partygoers to contests on PlayStation 2 to
benefit the charity, Athletes Helping Kids.
A newcomer to the party scene this year, ESPN The Magazine is teaming up with
Miller Lite for an anticipated event on Friday, January 24 at the Martini Ranch
Bar in downtown San Diego. Hosted by former football player and Super Bowl
winner, Tony Siragusa, the Miller Lite and ESPN The Magazine present Weekend
Warm-Up Party will include numerous PlayStation 2 kiosks, featuring NFL GameDay
2003 and other top 989 Sports titles.
Not only will Sony Computer Entertainment America have a strong presence at
major events throughout the week, but it will also be advertising during both
the ABC pre-game and post-game shows on Sunday, January 26, with a scheduled
nine spots to run during the four hour long pre-game show and one spot during
the post-game telecast. In addition, ABC will dedicate a segment to cover
highlights of the Wednesday night "Game Before the Game" competition.
