Star Wars Republic Commando will give you the chance to play as a foot
soldier in the Clone Wars. It is also the first squad-based shooter set in
the Star Wars universe. We asked LucasArt's Heather Phillips a few
questions about the game and we're able to get an inside look into this highly
anticipated game.
GT: Where in the Star Wars movies’ timeline does the game take place?
Heather: The game takes place between Episode II and Episode III. The game acts as
bridge between the two movies and tells the story of an elite squad of Clone
Commandos during the many epic battles of the Clone Wars.
GT: Will the game’s storyline tie into that of the movies? Will gamers
get a
sneak peek at any of the events in Episode III?
Heather: The game features several characters from the upcoming movie Episode III. You
will get a sneak peak at General Grievous and get to fight his bodyguards. You
will also spend a lot of time fighting along side huge Wookiee warriors who will
be very prominent in Episode III.

GT: Will the missions take place in any locations familiar to Star Wars
fans?
Heather: You will start on the familiar location of Geonosis which was in Ep2 and then
the games finishes on the Woookiee home planet of Kashyyyk. You will also
investigate a Republic Assault Ship that has cut off all communication so you
are the first team sent in to figure out what happened.
GT: Will any famous faces from the films make an appearance in the game?
Heather: The game is not Jedi focused so there are very few famous faces but you never
know who might show and when...
GT: What are the Republic Commandos and what is there mission? Are they
elite Clone Troopers?
Heather: Republic Commandos are like the Special Forces of the Republic Army. They
were developed under direction from Jango Fett, and with the assistance of Mandalorian mercenary sergeants. At birth the Commandos were separated from the
herd, and grouped into “pods,” in a reflection of the native aiwha hunting pods
of the watery world. These pods worked together, trained together, and fought
together, sometimes under brutal circumstances. Their Mandalorian sergeants
instilled in them an above-average sense of pride, honor, and bravery. The
Kaminoans soon found they had a number of small squads, each highly-trained and
fiercely-cohesive, yet divisible into smaller units for varied mission profiles.
Ultimately, neither the regular army clones nor the ARC troopers could match
them when it came to organization and team-work. Commandos are the elite - the
"best of the best" - and are most effective when working together as a squad.
