"Disappointing Game Play
Conflict Desert Storm "Back to Baghdad" looks and feels great. The graphics are greatly enhanced, the a.i. is much improved, the new soundtrack is appealing. Everything I loved about the first Conflict Desert Storm game is here -- except the most important element: challenging game play. My room-mates and I have been playing "Desert Storm" since this summer, but still find it challenging to play. Imagine our surprise when we blew through "Back to Baghdad" in just three sittings. There are several things we find disappointing. First, the levels are pretty much shoot-em-ups. Tactics and strategy aren't nearly as important as they were in "Desert Storm." There are lots of game titles where you can shoot your way to bliss. Very few demand the thought, planning, and careful execution that "Desert Storm" does. "Back to Baghdad" is simply too easy. Rarely did we encounter one of the "oh, s**t!" moments that make "Desert Storm" so much fun. Second, the levels are boringly repetitive. The urban environments are just too much of the same thing level after level. Don't get me wrong -- they look fabulous -- they're just dull to play in. Third, we never ran out of anything. There are too many weapons and medpacks available. The best moments in "Desert Storm" come when you beat a level with no medpacks and only the clip in your weapon. Bottom line, for all it's glorious look and feel, "Back to Baghdad" is a pale imitation of it's predecessor. I hope the producers do a better job with their upcoming Vietnam game." - BKBRO
