The game is further hampered by the fact that it is very linear.
Completing levels boils down to getting from Point A to Point B, and there is
never any confusion as to how to make the trip. There's not even an
illusion of freedom as ventilation ducts, hallways, fences, and narrow ditches
constantly channel you along the required path.
XIII includes a multiplayer component that includes both split-screen and Xbox
Live play. This aspect of the game also proved to be somewhat
disappointing. The maps are really pretty basic, as are the generic
first-person shooter weapons that are available. To make matters worse the
game only supports six players per game. This all combines to make for
some lackluster and dull multiplayer gaming.
Overall XIII is a disappointment. It could have been a great game if as
much time was put into the gameplay as was put into the game's look.
You'll definitely want to rent this one before buying, not only to check out its
unique look for yourself but also to see if it can hold your interest for more
than an evening.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
66%. You can't judge a comic book by its cover. XIII looks
stylish but plays bland.
