Making my way through the jungle I eventually came to a massive temple with
huge walls and an open arena-like interior. The place was absolutely crawling
with Decepticlones and it would have a disaster if I hadn't had pick up my first
two Minicons. The first let me fire missiles at the Decepticlones, stopping them
in their tracks and letting me take on groups of them at once. The second was an
IR sensor that detected all of the heat put out by the hot-running Decepticlones.
With it I could track down Decepticlones sneaking along the ramparts of the
temple and send a little missile or two their way. I took my share of damage in
the battle, but luckily the dispatched Decepticons dropped behind pick-ups that
field-repaired my damage on the spot.

The demo provided for some fast and furious battles against hordes of
Decepticlones and even an enemy dropship. If the opening level is any
indication, then Transformers will be an action-packed game that will provide
plenty of challenge. The Decepticlones were not only numerous, they were smart
too. They knew to fan out when missiles were coming at them and on more than one
occasion they sure looked like they were trying to flank me while my attention
was diverted elsewhere.
The game's graphics look great - the Amazon jungle was filled with trees as
far as the eye could see and from high places you could look out over the jungle
for miles. The animation of Hot Shot was smooth and he moved about as
realistically as you
might imagine a giant robot to move. And the control was right on the money,
making it easy to strafe and maneuver while trying to hit enemies coming from
several directions.
All of this great gameplay was just in the first level of game still a month away from
release. Be sure to check out the game when it is released in May - you'll find
that there is more to it than meets the eye.
