Hulk packs a powerful punch. |
The real fun of HULK is the missions when you get to be the HULK himself. You
are usually chasing down one of the bosses throughout a level and until you
finally catch up with him there are lots of security guards that will be more
than happy to give you a nice warm up. Practically every thing you see on screen
can be broken, smashed, or tossed. There is just a simple enjoyment out of
completely destroying everything you see. Is there a car nearby? Great, pick it
up and throw it at the bad guys. Don’t like the look of that column? No problem,
just hit it a few times and it will no longer be an eyesore. And as a bonus, you
can pick up the broken pieces and throw them around. Too many enemies around?
Well then, how about you pick one up and make like Nolan Ryan by tossing him
like a fastball back at the others? Yea, there is a lot of fun to be had by
breaking stuff. But there’s even more with the special combo attacks, Rage
attacks, Sonic Claps, and such.
Visually HULK gets by, if not a little lacking. One odd behavior is the pause
that happens when jumping from building to building. Sure you are moving from
live action to a mini cutscene with every leap, but it was unexpected and kind
of distracting. Thankfully there is little if any slowdown during the combat
itself. The controls are accurate and simple with a minimal learning curve. The
game may be a tad too easy with the exception of the Bosses themselves. There
are some special features included that must be unlocked featuring art from the
film and behind-the-scenes looks at the making of the game and movie.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
83%. A wise frog once said: “It’s not easy being green.” Well maybe
not, but it is a lot of fun to break stuff and HULK let’s you do just that. HULK
is well worth a rental to get out all your pent up hostilities…
