Control is just about everything in any game and it has to go doubly for
racing games. This game missed the mark. The really sad thing is that they
didn’t miss it by much but enough to where it’s irritating. Sure you get to do
combos and cool looking stunts. Well, you get to try to anyway. Pulling off
most of the interesting stunts requires so much air that you will rarely be
able to do anything but the most basic stunts. Be prepared to crash a lot
until you finally just give up with the stunts. Another disappointment with
the game is that the different racing surfaces didn’t affect the controls that
noticeably. You can go flying through a stream and it handles the same as when
you’re cruising over some railroad tracks, which is the same as trekking
through the sand. There were handling differences for the snowy courses, so I
know they gave it some thought but just not enough.
There are a variety of tracks to race. The tracks are entertaining enough and
they include Baja races that are wide-open tracks where you must pass through
specific checkpoints. Problem is that many of the checkpoints are difficult to
find. Sure there is a little green arrow at the top pointing you in the general
direction but it doesn’t always help. There were more than a few occasions where
I could not see the next checkpoint and was just driving around. Part of the
problem was that my rider would often be blocking my view. Not a good thing when
you can’t see the course because you’re in the way of yourself! I actually
started using the tactic of following behind the other riders just to see where
they were going. Other tracks include arenas and stunt tracks. These didn’t have
the same frustration as the Baja races and some of the arenas were pretty cool.
I did actually like some of the music. So it’s got that going for it.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
54%. What can you say about yet
another extreme dirt biking game? You can say they have now made one too many.
Leave this one in the dust.
