The only redeeming quality to this game is the multiplayer. Multiplayer requires good decision making and tactics to take out the enemy as opposed to just using the biggest gun. This is all well and good but I have found that it doesn't do anything that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars doesn't do just fine. This game is more realistic, sure, but that doesn't mean it's more fun.
The only thing AA: True Soldier really has going for it are the weapons. They all look and sound fairly good compared to the actual weapons and they operate rather precisely as well. Go ahead and try shooting a sniper rifle from the hip, it isn't happening. Better lay down in some bushes for cover and try to pop that enemy in the chest as best you can. Control of your wavering and compensation for whatever angles you need are key to using it.
However the games presentation is still a complete mess. The sound is minimalist beyond the sounds of the weapons, horrendous voice acting and the patriotic theme song. All of the textures are bland and nearly painful to look at and the character models are just as bad. Once again it looks like all the attention was paid to the guns… and the explosions. Those grenades sure blow up real purdy like.
Considering the price tag attached to what started as a free download and has evolved into a bargain bin title, I have to wonder just how seriously Ubisoft thinks they're getting away with it. The PC version was free and still played better than this. Buyers beware: This game will likely be found in good quantities used in your local gaming store so wait for a price drop and then pick it up if you must. Charging $60 for this game should really be considered a crime and it annoys me to no end. True Soldier indeed.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
45%. This game is essentially a bargain bin Xbox game and it is insulting to see it with a regular Xbox 360 game price tag.
