As for the gunplay, there's plenty of it the game but it's obviously
secondary to the hand to hand combat. The game uses the same engine as
Gears of War, so there's a cover system that figures prominently into the gun
fights. It is relatively easy and intuitive to get behind cover in the
game and you can fire from behind cover as well. There's no target lock in
the game as there is in many third person action game, but it's not needed here.
The aiming controls are nice and responsive on their own, but if you need a
little help the game has a 'Bourne Instinct' feature. If you engage the
Bourne Instinct then you'll briefly be shown an outline of each enemy and the
aiming reticule will be placed in close proximity to an enemy. You can use
adrenaline for gun takedowns as well, triggering an animated sequence in which
Bourne unleashes a kill shot. Enemy AI is average; enemies make use of
cover and sometimes move from place to place, but you'll be able to pick off
your share of 'jack in the box' enemies when they pop their heads up from behind
cover.

The game does feature a single driving level, but frankly it could have
easily been left out of the game. This level feels borrowed form the
movies in that it feels tacked on and unnecessary, added simply because a car
chase is a standard sequence for an action film. The controls are
frustrating as the car handling is way too light and floaty, and it seems that
you spend more time spinning out as you do moving forward. Once you get
through this level there will be no motivation to ever go back and play it over
again.
Overall Bourne Supremacy is an enjoyable game. The attention to detail
and frantic non-stop action make for an engaging and exciting experience.
I wish that there was greater depth to the fighting controls and that the game
allowed you to use the weaponized objects on your own rather than having you
push the adrenaline buttons and then just sit back and watch what Bourne decides
to grab and use. The feeling of repetition can be an issue in longer play
sessions, but taken in shorter segments you'll enjoy making your way to the end
of the game.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
80%. The Bourne Conspiracy is almost as much fun
to play as it is to watch.
