EA has also introduced a new feature called Game Face which does pretty much what it says, I think. What is supposed to happen is that you take a couple of digital photos of yourself, one from the front and one from the side. Then using either the PlayStation Network or TigerWoods08.com you upload the photos to EA. After some configurations to the photos you can then import your face into the game. I said "I think" because I was never able to get it to work. A couple of times I got messages that said it wasn't available and the other two times I started the process things seemed to freeze and I restarted after about 30 minutes of waiting. So I can't say I was impressed or not because it never worked. But it sure sounds like a neat idea.

There are some new courses, some new pro players to choose from, and the new FedEx Cup Championship. Something else new is the Putt Preview that you can use once per green to see where your put will end up under the path you currently have chosen. It is helpful and it's nice that they only allow it once per hole otherwise putting would be way too simple. All of the traditional games modes are back including stroke play, skins, match play, best ball, among others. A new game is added called "Bingo Bango Bongo" which gives points for first to the green, closest to the green, and best score respectively.

Looking at what I have written there seems to be a lot of new action in Tiger 08, but there really isn't. This seems way too similar to past versions. The graphics, while nice, are not up to next gen capabilities. The crowds are simply creepy looking. The animations for the golfers are smooth but the courses are not as detailed as I would expect. It's hard for me to exactly say what is wrong here but it just feels like the same game I have been playing for the past 3 years or more. I just find it hard to recommend the game to anyone that has a version from the past 3-4 years. I think EA, and certainly the gamers wallets, would be better off taking a couple of years off from the series. Golf just doesn't fit the profile of a sport that needs an update every year.

In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated: 79%. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 is the same Tiger from years past. If you don't already own a previous version then it's certainly worth a look. Those that already have a copy from the past few years would be better off passing until something dramatic happens to the series.
