In addition to the regular golf the game includes a number of arcade style
games and multiplayer modes. Most of these add twists to the traditional game
making for some gameplay that can be a little more heated than your typical golf
match. Greensome lets your team play the best shot while in bloodsome you pick
which ball the other team must play. For two players there’s the similar one
ball in which you and your opponent alternate shots with the same ball, with the
hole going to the player that finally sinks the ball. Battle golf makes things
interesting by letting the winner of a hole permanently remove one of his or her
opponent’s clubs from their bag. All of these modes make for some enjoyable and
fun play with friends when traditional golf just won’t do.
The Wii is not quite up to par with the other nextgen consoles in terms of
graphics, but the graphics in Tiger Woods 07 look decidedly last gen. The jagged
edges and fuzzy graphics make the game look like an early PS2 game rather than a
Wii game. Perhaps the developers recycled an old graphics engine so that they
could concentrate on adding the support for the Wii’s controls. Hopefully this
area of the game will be updated when the inevitable Tiger Woods 08 is released.
Overall Tiger Woods 07 is enjoyable on the Wii and the swing control goes a
long way towards making you feel as if you’re actually swinging a club. The
controls aren’t perfect yet, but they feel a lot more realistic than pushing a
stick up and down with your thumb.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
76%. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 is a solid contender
on the Wii, but it is not quite championship material.
