Crash Mode provides you with busy intersections, crowded freeways, dangerous
curves, and similar settings and challenges you to build up speed and go
smashing through the middle of things causing as much damage as possible.
After everything comes to a stop you get a helicopter flyby which gives you a
bird's eye view of the wreck as the damage is totaled in terms of dollars.
You can also watch a replay to analyze your technique or to appreciate your
work. If you cause the minimum amount of destruction required in each of
the three crash junctions in a group, you'll unlock the next set of three.
You can also go back and play any of the unlocked junctions at any time. You
can also challenge another player to see who can cause the most damage.
The Crash Mode is an absolute blast and is totally addicting. We found
that even those who don't really play racing games that much were hooked after a
couple of crash runs.

While you won't find any licensed cars in the game, you'll have a wide variety
of vehicles from which to choose that were obviously inspired by some real world
models. The cars range from compacts to SUVs, with sedans, sports cars,
and muscle cars as well. You can even drive the police cruiser after
winning your first pursuit - for some perverse fun try using it in crash mode.
Each drives differently in terms of acceleration, handling, and speed.
Control is pretty tight, allowing you to weave through traffic with precise
moves even at very high speeds.
Graphically the game looks very, very good. The textures are detailed,
there are time of day and weather effects, and there are plenty of reflection
and shadow effects. Even though the environments can get crowded with
traffic and buildings, the game never experiences any slowdown. In fact,
it does a phenomenal job of conveying a sense of speed. You'll be in for
some edge of the couch excitement as you go screaming through traffic,
especially when you engage your car's boost. The world around you will
stretch and flatten slightly as you go hurtling down the road, giving you a boost
of adrenaline along with your car's boost in speed.
