SSX Blur deserves special mention for its sound and graphics. The game is
packed with catchy riffs that key off of your actions in the game and that pick
up in volume and pace as you get in the groove and fill your uber-meter. The
game’s graphics have a cartoon look to them that fir the mood and spirit of the
game quite well, which is after all a fantasy game exclusive to the quirky Wii
console.
SSX Blur includes support for multiplayer gaming but this support is really
basic and harkens back to the earliest days of multiplayer games. There’s a
split screen mode that allows two players to play at once and a mode in which
players alternate play as they try to get the highest score in an event. It’s OK
for short gaming sessions when you have a friend or two over who want to check
out the game, but it’s not something that you’ll be spending a lot of time
playing.
Overall, SSX Blur is enjoyable if you put the time in to learn the controls.
If you’re unwilling to put that time in up front before you even start playing
the game, then you’ll have a frustrating experience and will give up on the game
pretty quickly. Once you master the controls you’ll enjoy the game for a while,
but it will eventually you’ll find it hard to keep your interest in the game due
in large part to the randomness of the tricks and the impossibly difficult to
pull-off uber-tricks.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
71%. SSX Blur can be enjoyable, but in the time it
will take you to master the controls you could learn how to snowboard for real.
