The primary modes of play all make their return this year, but include some changes to the Superstar mode and a whole new NFL Network mode. The Susperstar mode casts you in the role of an NFL prospect and your goal is to put together an NFL career worthy of induction into the Hall of Fame. The primary thing that separates this mode of play from the others is that you no longer control your team or call your plays. You control yourself on each play, but if you’re on the bench because you’re an offensive player and your team is on defense you’ll just watch the play from the sidelines. The game is sped up slightly when you’re not on the field, but watching and waiting still takes a little getting used to. This mode also lets you shape your role on the team beyond your assignment for each play. You’ll be able to shape your player’s personality by selecting how you respond to interview questions and gain influence with your teammates. If you’re playing a quarterback and you settle into a role of field general, you’ll earn influence points after successful plays that can be used to give boosts to your other players on the field. It’s a good addition to the Superstar mode and makes you feel like you’re also playing for your team rather than just to pad your personal stat lines.

The NFL Network mode is nice new addition to the game especially for those of you who aren’t quite sure what the difference is between a Cover 2 and a Cover 3 defense. There are specific plays offensive and defensive plays for each team in the league that are broken down for you by NFL analyst Sterling Sharpe. Once you’re given an understanding of each play’s design and the game situations to which it applies you’ll be given a chance to run the plays yourself.

Madden NFL 07 also comes with the single game, franchise mode, and multiplayer options that have been present in the last few iterations of the game, so there’s plenty of gameplay here for the NFL fan. Madden NFL 07 delivers a good, enjoyable game of football and if you can look past the current-gen graphics you’ll find that it can be more fun than the sexier Xbox 360 version.

In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated: 87%.  Madden NFL 07 delivers great football action and scores big with NFL fans.
