The game’s missions provide you with a variety of objectives although most of
them do involve a large number of killings. If you played through the console
versions you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that the PSP version includes
extra missions not found in those versions. The game’s world is too desolate and
devoid of life to warrant much exploration once you complete the story, but
there are additional modes available to extend the game’s life. Mini games
include hunting, gunfights, and even Texas Hold’em poker. All of the mini games
are enjoyable in short doses and provide for some challenge as well. There are
also multiplayer deathmatch and golden cross modes playable over Ad Hoc. Golden
cross is similar to other multiplayer games in which only the player holding on
to a special item collects points while the other players try to kill said
player so that they can score points instead. The game gives you the option of
including AI bots for those times when friends aren’t available and the AI is
good enough to make these modes enjoyable when you’re on your own.
Despite its control issues and occasional frustrations Gun Showdown is an
enjoyable game. It does a good job of creating a classic western lone gunman
story and packing it with exciting missions with plenty of action. Shooter fans
looking for something a little different should definitely give it a try.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
83%. Saddle up and ride out with Gun Showdown for some enjoyable
western shoot-out action.
