Airborne allows a little more freedom on how you go about finishing each level. I mean it's not a free roaming game like GTA but it's not a stuck on a rail shooter either. The levels have several objectives and they don't always need to be completed in a specific order. So if you find yourself getting frustrated with a certain goal you can usually skip it and come back later. The game autosaves as you progress which is nice and seems to be the way the next gen titles are handling things. It does fine in remembering what objectives you have completed so if you get killed you don't have to start the entire level over. You do still start off by plummeting from the sky after each restart which is pretty cool.

There are plenty of authentic weapons of the day to keep you entertained. The more you use a weapon type the better you get at it and your ability to use the weapon increases. The can mean that the recoil is less or that you aim is better. Between grenades, rifles, handguns, etc., you'll find plenty of way to wipe out Nazi scum. The AI is a mixed bag. Your fellow soldiers seem to be either awesome or stupid and there is no way to tell which it's going to be. I don't expect them to win the battle without me but I also don't want to feel like nothing is going to get done unless I do it. There was a battle where the first part of it I was hardly involved. I mean the other soldiers were just kicking butt and not taking any names. Then suddenly they couldn't figure out how to go around a corner. It was just odd. The enemy AI was a bit on the dumber side more often than not.
Graphically Airborne will not be winning any awards but that has more to do with the high bar set by games such as Gears of War, Call of Duty 4, and Ratchet and Clank than any huge failure on Airborne's part. There is almost always a variety of things going on in the background ranging from planes crashing into mountains, hundreds of paratroopers filling the skies, anti-aircraft explosions, and your own team running around. Airborne does have wonderful sounds no arguing that. The sounds of battle are all around and the sense that you are really in the middle of something serious is very real.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
80%. Medal of Honor: Airborne is an example that shows even genres that seem to have overstayed their welcome can produce a fun game.
