The enemy AI in the game is pretty good. Enemies not only actively seek cover, they will move between different firing positions while they're behind cover and will even hightail it out of there if the odds start looking pretty stacked against them. The challenge presented by the AI is made stiffer by their accuracy - I just couldn't shake the feeling that the game was boosting the accuracy of the enemy's weapons compared to the ones I was carrying. Perhaps the biggest fault with the AI is that it can be a bit too aggressive. Enemies will often charge at you and attempt to engage you hand to hand. This is effective if they are lucky enough to time their charge to catch you just after the last round has left your magazine. Most of the time, though, this tactic backfires and you'll be able to quickly dispatch the foolhardy enemy with a short-range shot to the head.
The single player campaign consists of six missions, but multiple objectives and additional mid-mission objectives mean that each mission is pretty long-playing. It's not unusual to find that completing a level in the game requires over an hour of game time. Luckily the game's autosave feature works pretty well and you don't have to spend too much of that time replaying the same long sequences over and over again. Once you complete the game you can go online for ranked and unranked multiplayer matches. Up to twelve players can compete at a time in your basic team-based modes such as team deathmatch. The online game is enjoyable, but does not provide anything to make it stand out from your average online shooter. The one exception to this is that in some modes the American side's spawn point is in a C-47 above the battlefield. The ability to drop onto the battlefield anywhere you like is pretty cool. It also opens up a lot of rooftop fighting, which I believe is rather unique in online games.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
82%. Medal of Honor: Airborne is an enjoyable shooter, adding enough to the formula to avoid feeling like a retread of territory you've crossed many times before.
