There are several things to enjoy with EIB with the grand cinematic
presentation, the sounds, and the basic combat. However what separates the PS2
version from the others, and in a bad way, is the AI for both the good guys and
the bad ones. Here you will often see your squadmates stand around instead of
taking cover. So this will make the suppress and flank maneuvers that are
absolutely critical to your success much more difficult. I mean it's one thing
to fail because you made a bad tactical decision and quite another because the
AI does very stupid things like standing out in the open while shooting. This
does not seem to be a problem with the Xbox version and it's a shame to see that
the developers did not improve this big discrepancy between the two versions as
they were also around in the original.
EIB is a little short (maybe 11 hours) and if you played the first game
several parts of this one will seem familiar. This is because there are some
areas that are basically the same as the first game but seen from a different
point-of-view. This doesn't give the game a fully new feeling and some players
may not like this.
Muliplayer options are plentiful, including co-op play and I always love
co-op. Most of the multiplayer games involve the Americans vs. Germans. While
the single player game may be a tad short, the multiple options add some replay
value to the game. Some of these include Objective, where you need to complete
one of five different missions; Defense, where you have to defend your position
against an onslaught of enemies; and Time where, well, you must meet your
objective in a set amount of time.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
77%. Brother in Arms: Earned in Blood is a decent WWII game and attractive
to those who like a little strategy in their FPS but if you have a choice go
with the PC or Xbox version.
