In addition to the story mode the game also features a classic mode which
gives you many of the skate levels from previous Tony Hawk games dating back to
the series’ early days. These levels come complete with the old school goals
such as collecting letters and finding hidden tapes. If you are a Tony Hawk
regular then you’ve probably seen most of these levels before, but they’re still
a nice stroll down memory lane.
Online support is provided in the game in the form of games of Graffiti and
Horse and also in a co-op mode that lets you team up to accomplish goals in the
various skate levels. For example, you can both race around the level to grab
the hidden tales far faster than you could ever do on your own.
Overall American Wasteland is a Tony Hawk game, meaning that if you liked the
games in the past you’ll like this one. It does have the distinction of being
probably the easiest game yet in the series for beginners to get into thanks to
the format of the story mode. Conversely, series veterans will find the story
mode to be on the easy side and will blow through the story mode in an extended
afternoon or two of play.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
80% The chance to skate a virtual LA will appeal to Tony Hawk fans and
those new to the series will find the story mode a great way to quickly learn
how to be a sick video skate rat.
