The battles in Ten Hammers have moved away from the puzzle-like situations in
Full Spectrum Warrior. The previous game’s roots as a training aid were apparent
in that it would place you into situations where there was a “correct” approach
to take. Ten Hammers is not as accommodating in creating these types of
situations for you and you can find yourself in some contested and dynamic
situations. However, it still does not give you the degree of freedom that you
should have in a city assault. There are plenty of artificial obstructions
designed to channel you along. I even ran into places where my team hit a glass
wall that prevented me from moving any further. This was especially annoying
when it prevented me from circling a building to get into a better position to
take out the enemy.

Speaking of the enemy, your foes will give you quite a challenge in the game.
Even on the lowest difficulty setting they are crack shots who will manage to
pick off members of your team even when you think that you are safely behind
cover. This can lead to a lot of backtracking as you must carry your fallen
comrades back to a safe zone for medical evacuation.
Ten Hammers also includes a variety of multiplayer games that can be played
in co-op mode on a single Xbox or in eight player battles on Xbox Live. One
interesting mode has one team made up of American squads and the other of
individual insurgents.
Ten Hammers will not appeal to everyone. If you’re expecting a first-person
shooter you won’t find it here, and if careful maneuvering to get a team into
flanking position so that they can automatically make the kill doesn’t sound
appealing to you then you should definitely pass on the game. If on the other
hand you’re intrigued by the chance to use your head more than your trigger
finger and apply sound tactics to your gameplay, Ten Hammers is certainly worth
a look.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
74% It’s not for everyone, but if you’re intrigued by the tactical
side of combat Ten Hammers is worth your time.
