| The Fantastic 4 works as a team. |
So each of the F4 team have their own fighting ability that takes advantage of
their different powers. The Invisible Woman can be useful when you need to sneak
around, but honesty how useful is this in a crowded room filled with people who
mean you harm? Not much. Stretch Armstrong, I mean Mr. Fantastic, can fling his
arms in really big circles and make them look like hammers. That’s pretty cool.
He can also reach across a room and grab something like a potted plant and toss
it at the bad guys. Too bad it is so freaking hard to aim or this type of
attacking might have been fun. Now The Human Torch is actually fun to play. You
can shoot fireballs long range and he can fly. All told, he’s by far the most
satisfying character to play. The Thing is almost exactly like The Hulk except
he’s orange instead of green. All of the characters have two attacks, light and
heavy and also special Cosmic Power Attacks. These special attacks take away
from your power meter, so you want to try and save them for the right time. But
since just about all of the enemies can be taken out with just the light and
heavy attacks you may never need the special attacks. Some of them are neat to
watch though.
Fantastic 4 has stages where you play a single character throughout the stage
and other areas where more of the group shows up and you can take control over
any of the available heroes at any time. All fine and good, expect there is no
good reason to ever be The Invisible Woman. Most of the time you will find
yourself leaning to the pure power of The Thing or using Mr. Fantastic to swat
at the enemies from long distance. However there are times where you must take
control of a certain character in order to get out of a certain spot. There are
color-coded circles throughout the game and each of the 4 has their own circle.
What you need to do is take control of the appropriate character and move them
over to the circle to enter into a mini game thing. These are lame games that
take what little immersion you have going in the game and brings it to a quick
halt.
My last two rants, they’ll be quick and to the point, deal with the camera and
targeting system. Both needed a lot more work done to them before this game was
let loose. The camera does what all bad cameras do by getting into positions
where you just can not see what is happening. Why am I still dealing with poor
camera angles in games??? Oh and I don’t like the targeting system. Sometimes it
locks on a specific target and just won’t switch to another one even the locked
on target is across the room and there is a much more threatening target right
next to you. Lame! Oh, I said only two more rants but I have to mention this.
The game is called Fantastic 4, right? Right. So how come the multi-player only
allows 2 players? What’s up with that?
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
55%. Fantastic 4. A game that did not need to be made. Check out X-Men
Legends instead. You’ll thank me later...
