Which weapon is your favorite and why?
Lim: My favorite weapon is a toss-up between the Hunter Mines Launcher
and the Holoshield Launcher. The Hunter is truly unique in how it carries live
ammunition outside the weapon. You can use this to charge into enemies, and it
functions as destructive defense if enemies happen to catch you off guard. I
also love the Holoshield Launcher because it's entirely underrated. In Ratchet:
Deadlocked, the Holoshields deliver damage whenever an enemy crosses through it.
This completely changes how you can use it for offensive purposes. It also
allows us to place interesting mods on it like Morph or Freeze. At level 10 and
above, it also fires back at nearby enemies after absorbing enemy fire. I
secretly think this can be the strongest weapon in the game if used
strategically.
How about your favorite omega mod combination?
Anthony (Moo) Yu, Gameplay Programmer: I really enjoyed packing the
Impact Alpha mods onto a Shock Omega-modded Magma Cannon. With the squeeze of a
button I could send a wall of static-charged swarmers clear across the level
just waiting to reach out and touch somebody.
What are some of the vehicles players will get to man during the game? Which
can be controlled by two players in co-op mode?
Carl Glave, Gameplay Programmer: There are a total of four vehicles in
Ratchet: Deadlocked: the Land Stalker, Puma, Hovership, and Hoverbike. All the
vehicles except for the Hoverbike seat two players each. When in a co-op setting
though, dual Hoverbikes are provided so that both players can race through the
level together.
Each vehicle fills a particular role, making each be the preferred vehicle for
different situations.
- The Land Stalker is a heavily armored, four legged walking tank, equipped with
massive Gatling lasers and energy mortars. Its armor and firepower make it ideal
for assaults on enemy fortifications, or mobile defenses.
- The Puma (buggy) has medium armor and a high caliber, top-mounted turret. Its
speed, combined with its decent firepower, make it an excellent assault vehicle
to hit the enemy fast and hard.
- The Hovership is a lightly armored, airborne weapons platform equipped with
rapid firing lock-on rockets and a large plasma cannon. Its high maneuverability
and speed allows it to dodge incoming fire while dishing out its own, make it a
powerful rapid response force.
- The Hoverbike has minimal armor, but is the fastest vehicle with or without
wheels. Its main use is for rapid transit across the battlefield, but it is
still equipped with a pair of light laser guns to fend off small threats while
on the move.
