stage are exacting, with no margin for error. By now you should have at 
least two cars in your stable. If one gets too hot (or is impounded), you 
can cruise with the other. Make a play for Big Lou's pink slip if all 
you've got is a starter and your current ride, then sell the starter car 
and use the money to keep your other two rides upgraded.
