| -----------o-------------\ Grana-Vallis Mountain |
| (00006) \----------------------------------------------o
o------- Item Checklist -------o Head North and begin the long climb up. The
| | enemies in this area are very powerful and
| Herb..................._____ | very dangerous at first, but your level will
| Bandit's Mail.........._____ | shoot up quickly. Jump up the cliff on the
| Wing of Alma..........._____ | right side then head over to the left and
| Rehdan Shield.........._____ | hop up one level higher. This leads you to
| Blue Tabulas..........._____ | a room with a chest containing 'Herb.' Go
| Sylphen Boots.........._____ | back to the previous area and take the exit
| Blirante..............._____ | to the Southeast. Jump from platform to
| Thief's Glove.........._____ | platform as you make your way East in this
| Seed of Defense........_____ | area. A couple things to note, the flowers
| | are incredibly good for collecting Emelas
o------------------------------o and the little exploding pods you find on
the ground are incredibly good for building
experience. Use both of them and don't hesitate to head back to the village
if you want to level up your sword to level five, it will really come in handy
(level five takes 88 Emelas.) Make your way through this area back to the
outside again. Now as you're ascending up the platforms in this area, halfway
up there's a path leading down to the South. Follow it to reach a chest which
will increase your accessory slots by one when you open it up.
Continue up to the cave entrance at the top. Make your way up to the West
exit and be sure to save your game at the save point. Head West and enter the
cave. Now in this area, jump up onto the small platform near the top, then up
again to reach the cliff on the right. It's not a difficult task to jump
across from here to the other side. Open up the treasure chest to receive
'Bandit's Mail' which you should definitely equip immediately. Drop down and
keep going North. Note that the enemies in this area which attack you from
underground can only be damaged by performed the downward stab. Take the
north exit again in the next area and get ready to other attack like crazy or
hide because there are more than a dozen of those kamikaze land mine enemies
here. When they're all taken care of your can open the treasure chest to find
'Wing of Alma' inside. Go back and head left to trigger a scene.
You simply need to defeat a few normal enemies here, as I mentioned before the
downward stab is the way to do it. Talk to the young boy after you have
dispatched the enemies. Run all the way to the far East end of this section,
drop off the stone platforms on purpose and open the chest to get the 'Rehdan
Shield.' Climb back up and hop across the stone platforms to reach a large
wall. Start scaling it back and forth then go through the cave door at the
top. Now in this area you have the option of taking a bit of a trip. You'll
notice that the stones on the wall on your right don't completely block the
entire ledge, there is an area you can drop down at the top. If you choose to
drop down you will land in an area with some normal enemies and a chest
containing 'Blue Tabulas.' Leave this room and go down to the lower left to
find a chest with 'Sylphen Boots' inside. Now return to the drop section.
Take the North exit and run over to the East side to find an opening leading
South. From here it's just a matter of running across the bridge to find
another save point inside the cave area. Jump up to the top of this cliff and
get the 'Mirror Fragment' off the ground. Then something else occurs...

O=====================O Well now here's a boss that's no pushover. He's got |
| HP: 800 | a number of attacks and most of them are pretty |
O=====================O deadly. First of all his normal attack is actually |
| his deadliest, he jams his claw into the ground and |
| damages you if you're anywhere near it, and you don't have a lot of time |
| to get away if you are up close attacking. The second one is when he gets |
| to a corner and starts firing energy balls, this is the easiest to dodge |
| all you do is run to the opposite side and wait it out. Finally once the |
| boss has taken enough damage is starts throwing little rocks that you need |
| to knock off the edge before they turn into firefly enemies that attack |
| you while you're trying to fight the boss. Attack it with the single |
| jumping spin slash, it should be doing between 15-20 damage per hit if |
| your level is good, and critical hits will only speed things up. |

o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o
Once you wake up you may notice a sword planted in the ground above you.
Approach it and pick it up to receive the 'Blirante.' You can now cycle
between swords with the L1 and R1 buttons. Now return to the bottom of the
mountain and save your game. When you arrive again in Port Rimorge a scene
automatically occurs at the old man's house. Leave the town via the Northwest
exit and talk to Xaxon, he tells you that there are monsters in the way and he
can't get to the bridge so head in that direction. Destroy the dangerous
spinning flowers. Go at them aggressively and you should be able to keep them
stunned enough so that they don't let out their spinning death arms. For some
reason I had to use the original sword because it wouldn't recognize them as
dead with the fire sword, so you may have to do the same. Speak to Xaxon
again and he'll tell you to talk to Lloyd. Lloyd is standing just outside
Baslam's room. Speak to him to get the 'Thief's Glove.' That's it for now.
Head back through the Mythos Path to the other island. On the beach you can
find Isha standing on the beach, and she has more than a few interesting
things to say. After that go back to the village and talk to Olha who is
praying at the large rock formation. Talk to her twice and on the second time
she gives you 'Seed of Defense.' Now you need to return to the Mythos Path
but not go all the way through. If you remember that door you couldn't open
where you fought the guy with the halberd, now that you have the fire sword
you can strike the emblem and open the path to the Ruins of Amnesia.
Now that you have the Wing of Alma you can start the Alma's Trials sidequest
by selecting it from your inventory and using the option to "Warp." Check out
Alma's Trials sidequest section for more details on the entire thing.
