Back at Vector Industries Second R&D Division Shion, KOS-MOS and Allen are
meeting with a man. The man says the Gnosis phenomenon is spreading, and
humanity may only have a few years left before it is wiped out. He explains
that the Zohar project's ultimate goal is to eradicate the Gnosis completely,
and to do this they must get the original Zohar from Miltia. There is a force
known as U-DO that created Miltian space, and is responsible for the Gnosis
themselves. He has developed a tertiary weapon system for KOS-MOS, a sort of
wing-weapon device. He even goes on to say that the system was designed by
Kevin, one of the leads on the KOS-MOS project. Shion accepts the plan.
Next we see Shion speaking with someone, looking at a device made specifically
for KOS-MOS that allows her to access hyperspace without a U.M.N. column. The
man is Kevin, and this is a flashback. Kevin says that he hopes KOS-MOS can
be more than just a weapon, that perhaps she can help lead them into a future
free of prejudice. Back in Vector Industries again Allen catches up with
Shion. She tells Allen to keep watch on KOS-MOS and heads to the city.
Shion enters a place called Moby Dick's Cafe and talks to the bartender
referring to him as "boss." She seems quite familiar with the man, he said
the last time he say her was when she was in high school. The man says
Shion's brother comes in quite often and talked about her a couple of times.
chaos and Jr. walk into the cafe, and seem a little puzzled at Shion.
Gaignun comes in with Shelley and Mary to meet with Helmer. Helmer says
there's some bad news, some disturbing activity is going on. Some factions in
the Federation have begun to show signs of rebellion as a result of strain on
the peace treaty from 14 years ago. MOMO enters the room and introduces
herself, she also speaks to Canaan calling him an enhanced memory model.
Helmer says she looks more like Dr. Mizrahi's late daughter than the other
ones. Her tells MOMO that she will soon undergo analysis at the U.M.N.
center. He asks Nigredo (Gaignun) for some reconnaissance. Gaignun leaves
the room and uses some of his psychic powers to communicate and search for
Albedo. He tells Albedo it's not too late to make up. Albedo says that
McCartney tried the same thing, but he knows Gaignun's true form, an
executioner. Gaignun says that was over a long time ago. Albedo accuses
Gaignun of hanging around Rubedo just so he can execute his mission, but soon
he plans to "borrow" Rubedo and won't have a need for Gaignun. Guignan yells
at his and attacks him telepathically, but Albedo laughs it off.
Jr., chaos and Shion are eating at Moby Dick's. After some talk Jin enters
the cafe. He looks over to Jr. and chaos' table but Shion has disappeared.
She's hiding behind the wall trying to gesture Jr. to shut up, but she lets
her voice out and Jin hears her. He walks over and and sees her. He
introduces himself, and sits down. He jokes a bit, asking what kind of
trouble Shion has been causing them. She tries to convince Jin that she's
busy for the night, but Allen calls up and tells her it's going to take two or
three days to deal with some extra issues with KOS-MOS. He convinces Shion to
come home and invites Jr. and chaos to come along.
They arrive at Shion's house and find a bookstore opened. Shion tells Jin
that she was under the impression he had opened a doctor's office. He
explains that in this day and age everything is curable with modern medicine,
there's no need for another doctor. Jr. is very interested in the books.
The scene changes to that of a car sitting in a chair who we haven't seen
before, in either game. He is speaking about some kind of fortress or ship,
and the man he's talking to is Margulis. Margulis refers to the man as
"Sellers." Margulis tells Pellegi (his assistant) that Albedo will soon break
the seal on Old Miltia and the Immigrant Force will begin its invasion. All
of this in order to secure the original Zohar.
Jin tells Shion that it may not be a good idea to help the people she's with,
they're skilled professionals and she's only an amateur. Jin tells Shion that
tomorrow they will go pay respects to their mother and father's graves, but
Shion absolutely refuses. She says that their mother and father aren't even
in those graves, that Jin knows just as well as she does where they are. She
says that they were the only ones there "that day" and if Jin had only been
there sooner... she still won't go visit their graves. Jr., chaos and Jin
leave the room. chaos asks if it would be alright to stay the night there.
He and Jin sit outside that night to talk about some past issues. chaos asks
him about U-TIC... Jin explains that the human race began as a flock of
hunters and gatherers, they learned to control fire, and from that the power
of the blade. He says that humans will inevitably move toward a guiding
light, sometimes without thinking about the source. He words remain very
cryptic but he tells chaos to take care of Shion, he can't allow himself to
get close to her again. He's afraid that if he does, she might cut him out of
her life. He tells chaos that it seems like they can talk about everything,
it's as if chaos has been around for hundreds of years.
Jr., Ziggy and MOMO meet at the U.M.N. Center along with Gaignun, and Dr.
Mizrahi appears. She thanks them for all their help during the Proto Merkabah
incident, MOMO is excited but Dr. Mizrahi remains distant. Before leaving
however she turns around and tells MOMO it would be nice if they could live
together after the whole incident is over, then she walks away.
Jr. asks Dr. Mizrahi why she acted nice to MOMO all of a sudden, the Dr.
explains that MOMO was designed to react positively to familial warmth so it
was just part of her job to ensure the proceedings move forward smooothly.
Jr. tells her that pretending to be cold and emotionless is only going to hurt
her in the end, she says that MOMO was created by Joachim and that scares her.
Jr. says that regardless, he made a promise to Sakura and as such, he's going
to treat MOMO like a real girl. He says she made him promise to look after
her mother and sister. Mizrahi leaves and choas comes in. Mizrahi does some
work on Ziggy, she says that MOMO told her that being a famous scientist she
probably knew a thing or two about cybernetic engineering. Ziggy asks why she
acts so cold toward MOMO and Dr. Mizrahi explains that it is difficult to love
someone that looks like your daughter, but isn't. She asks Ziggy if he has
any children, he said he did but his son was lost in an accident. That very
event was the reason he committed suicide. Ziggy suggests that rather than
trying to think of MOMO as just a replacement of Sakura, why not think of her
as another daughter that she never had.
The analysis on MOMO is beginning. They explain that during the process they
will temporarily be shutting down MOMO's artificial emotions and artificial
personality. Before shutting down MOMO seems a bit saddened at the idea that
she just works off of an artificial set of emotions, but within seconds those
functions are shut down. During these proceedings Jr. leaves the room, saying
he can't watch, he's too afraid. Something starts to go terribly wrong, and
the only thing MOMO manages to say are the words "It's a trap!" After this
Ackbarism all the 100-Series Realians start to drop, Mizrahi says someone is
openeing up a U.M.N. terminal but they can't locate it. Dr. Mizrahi explains
that it's no wonder they found nothing, they were trying to analyze every
system separately when in fact each one is only a fragment of a larger whole.
There's some kind of "self-expanding" trap apart from Joachim's designs, it's
something much more recent, most likely Albedo's work from the intrusion. Dr.
Mizrahi says the only thing to do is initiate the emergency control code to
the destruction of the Y-Data, despite Ziggy objections about the danger to
MOMO she cannot allow it to fall into enemy hands. Suddenly as Dr. Mizrahi
hovers her finger over the activation button, she holds off just long enough
for another man to tell her the network has begun to disrupt. It's MOMO who
is destroying her own mind in order to protect the data. While Dr. Mizrahi
tries to restore MOMO, it triggers bloody flashbacks in Ziggy's mind. Jr.
relays the information to Shion and Allen, along with Helmer on another
monitor who explains that they're going to need Vector's help if they have any
chance of recovering the Y-Data. He officially requests their help.
We hear a man's voice yelling, asking what possible reason there could be to
dispatch the Immigrant Fleet to Second Miltia. The old man who we saw
previously talking to Margulis in the church begins to address a large
collective of people on video screens. He says that once there existed a
world known as Miltia, but fourteen years ago that land and mankind's greatest
treaure was sealed away. Someone interrupts him saying that all Zohar
activity currently falls under the jurisdiction of the Federation. The old
man says that it is the Miltian government that have been using the events of
fourteen years ago to justify their mobilization and reignite conflict. They
attempt to use the chaos of war to use the Relic to their own interests. He
says that the Miltian government however was cleared of all charges, even
Vector provided data to prove it, but one man says that there are rumours that
Vector is working with the Miltian government and such data cannot be trusted.
People are wondering exactly where Helmer is when the scene comes to an end.
We see Helmer enter the Uzuki Residence to speak to Jin. He tells Jin that he
is once again looking to enlist his services, Helmer wants to find out the
truth in the data that Jin entrusted to Canaan, just enough so that he can
find out who their real enemy is. Jin says that in order to unravel the data
he gave to Canaan, they have to "go back there." He knows what that means.
They begin the Encephalon dive into MOMO. Allen explains that MOMO is based
off of Sakura's memories and people who were in close contact with her may
appear at times. Jr. admits that would be him. He said that Sakura suffered
fron some kind of central nervous system disorder which they believe was
somehow connected to wave pulses in the U.M.N. Ziggy changes the subject a
little asking Jr. what U-DO is exactly, Jr. responds sayng U-DO is the Unus-
Mundus Drive Operation System. It may sound like something created by U.M.N.
but nothing like that could have been man made. People said it was an
artificial consciousness carrying dangerous waves throughout the U.M.N., but
this was a lie. Jr.'s father Dmitri Yuriev knew about this from the start.
Suddenly we see all the U.R.T.V.'s gathered around some large energy source,
seemily absorbing waves from. it. Jr. is holding Albedo's hand who is scared
and crying like a little baby. It brings forward the vision of a planet being
destroyed and Jr. then calls for an emergency cutoff of the spiritual link.
He says that all the thermal energy is going to converge, that his father knew
all along. Albedo is consumed by the energy force and the screen fades. Back
in the lab again Jr. finally speaks. U-DO is an energy from a higher
dimension that humans couldn't possibly control, U.R.T.V.'s are designed to be
its anti-existence but were never told what it truly was.
