Kurenai shows off her ninja skills.

Red Ninja is not your typical Ninja game - its star is a young girl. Kurenai is a young girl in 1500s Japan whose family is attacked by the brutal Black Lizard Clan. Kurenai’s family is all killed and she is left for dead hanging on a wire. Luckily she is rescued by a ninja clan that trains her in the martial arts. Kurenai’s experience on the wire leads her to adopt the Tetsugen as her weapon of choice. The Tetsugen is a wire weapon whose functionality varies depending on its length and end attachment. With her new training and unique weapon, she sets off to avenge her family’s death and put an end to the Black Lizard Clan.

Red Ninja will feature a depth of gameplay that is driven by Kurenai’s ninja skills. In addition to her Tetsugen, she’ll be able to make use of numerous weapons such as blowguns, smoke bombs, and rockets. Combat is not the only tool at her disposal though. Stealth elements enter the game through the ninja art of disguise and Kurenai’s own wiles as a woman. In addition, Kurenai can control and manipulate enemies with her Ninjutsu powers.

Red Ninja promises to be a different experience than you’re used to in ninja games. All of this coupled with the fact that the game’s story is being written by feature film writer/director Shinsuke Sato make Red Ninja a game to watch.
