The other game mode available for play was called Invasion. This game was
also team-based and required players to capture and hold onto the resource nodes
on the map. Probably the coolest thing about playing the Invasion game was that
it showcased the Zerg in action. StarCraft Ghost will include four Zerg troops:
Zerglings, Hydralisks, Mutalisks, and Infested Marines. Zerglings are all teeth
and speed with the added bonus of being able to burrow into the ground to ambush
enemies. Hyrdalisks come armed with claws for vicious melee strikes, but can
also shoot projectiles from a distance. Mutalisks have the power of flight and
can drop bomb-like projectiles from above, or they can swoop down to snatch up
an enemy and suck him try for a health boost. Lastly the Infected Marines are
armed with a gauss rifle and have the ability to blow themselves up in a suicide
attack. Playing as Zerg provides a unique experience in multiplayer shooter
action, and if you’re a StarCraft player like myself then it’s like being a kid
on your first trip to Disneyland.
Both modes provided for some fast-paced and exciting action, and I wish I could
have had more time with both. The release date for StarCraft: Ghost is still yet
to be announced, but my hands-on experience with the game indicates that it is
going to be a good one when it finally hits the stores.
