The game has other modes in addition to the campaign. You can always
revisit any of the tracks that you've unlocked and try to better your top score,
but you can also create remixes of any of the songs that you've unlocked as
well. You can drop notes onto any of the tracks in the song to add music
for the corresponding instrument. Once you've placed your notes you can
listen to your creation and save your favorites to the memory card. The
remix mode is not as powerful as other music creation software, but it can be a
fun diversion.
Amplitude also comes with several multiplayer games. The basic multiplayer
game puts up to four players into the same song. Players compete to
complete sequences as in the single player campaign, but there's an extra challenge
in that players can knock each other off of their track. Duel mode is
similar to a game of HORSE. Players alternate laying notes and then trying
to repeat the sequence. If a player completes the sequence, he/she will
win a "letter". If not, the opponent gets the letter. The first to
spell "AMPLITUDE" wins.

If you can't find a friend to play and have a Network Adaptor, then you are in
luck. The game supports online play in game, duel, and remix modes.
Finding games, or creating one to host yourself, is quite easy. You can
browse game lobbies to find one to your liking or set some search parameters and
have the game do the work for you. Amplitude will keep track of your
online record and even ranks all players so that you can see how you compare to
other players.
The game's graphics are very colorful, to say the least, and the backgrounds
look like something out of a rave club that you'd find in the world of
Bladerunner. Each song has its own unique environment filled with
images related to the current song's band. In addition, you can create an
avatar who appears in a little window as you are playing. This avatar is
created from a variety of heads, bodies, and arms available in the game, and you
can unlock even more as you play through the campaign. You can also set
the colors of the parts you add to your avatar, giving you a good degree of
freedom in creating your in-game look. As you play the game your avatar
will jam along with you, playing the instrument corresponding to the current
track. There are some great visuals in the game between your avatar and
the imaginative backgrounds, but to truly appreciate it you'll need to watch
somebody else playing as you'll need to keep your eyes on the tracks.
Amplitude comes with over twenty different songs from famous artists that are drawn
from a variety of genres, including rock, rap, and electronica. Listening
to the notes you hit being played and to the layering of the different
instrument tracks in each song is a blast for music lovers. While it would
be absolutely fantastic if the game came in different versions each focusing on
a single genre, you can still enjoy tracks even if you're not a fan of the genre.
All the songs selected are pretty high-energy tunes and it is hard not to get
pumped up by the music while playing. If you can play the game without
moving, even so much as toe-tapping, then you're either clinically dead or
musically hopeless.
Amplitude has two great qualities going for it: it's addictive to play and the
music really pumps you up. This is one of those rare games where it is
actually fun to go back and replay the levels you've already cleared. If
you are not a big fan of music, then it is conceivable that you'd find the game
repetitive after a while. For everyone else looking to give their game
library a little spark in the form of something different from most other games,
Amplitude is an excellent choice.
In The End, This Game Hath Been Rated:
92%. To put it simply, Amplitude
rocks.
