Codemasters will soon be sending players back to World War II with Prisoner of War.  In the game you play the role of Captain Lewis Stone, an Allied pilot shot down while on a top secret reconnaissance mission over Northern Germany.  You are able to bail out just before the anti-aircraft fire destroys your plane, but you parachute down to waiting German soldiers.  You have no choice but to surrender and are taken to a POW camp.

ScreenshotsAs Stone, you come up with a cunning plan to escape from the Germans by using a variety of tools and devices pilfered from the Germans themselves.  Unarmed and outnumbered, you'll need to use stealth tactics to make your way around your camp to acquire the items that you need.  You'll need to crawl through tunnels, sneak along fences, and avoid being spotted by the ever-watchful guards.  Also, when the opportunity presents itself you can make use of disguises or makeshift equipment you create from the objects you collect.

Life in a POW camp is one of routine and constant roll calls.  You'll need to keep a careful watch on the time as you go sneaking around the camp.  If you're not at mess for a meal or in the lineup at roll call, you can bet the guards will raise the alarm and really come looking for you.

You will also find yourself transferred between three different POW camps as you play, including the infamous Colditz Castle.  Each camp is created as a living, fully functional prison.  The guards have been programmed with a high level of AI that mimics the detection skills, and flocking and socialization tendencies exhibited by real-life guards.

This adds a good degree of replayability to the game, as the guard's actions are not all pre-scripted.  To further enhance the replay value, the game's designers have made it possible to gain new abilities if you complete a level in record time.  Look for Prisoner of War this summer.
