ScreenshotsOn August 2nd, 1990, Iraq unleashed 300,000 troops on Kuwait in an action that led to the conflict known as Desert Storm, the Gulf War.  The Coalition forces eventually won a decisive victory through superior tactics carried out by highly-trained soldiers and airmen.  Critical to the war's success were the actions carried out by elite covert forces that infiltrated enemy territory far behind the front lines and neutralized key targets.  Soon you'll have an opportunity to join one of these elite forces, and as a member of the Delta Force or British SAS you will lead a squad of men in a variety of covert operations.

Conflict: Desert Storm will be based on the actual events of the war, placing you into real wartime situations and environments.  To help ensure the game's authenticity, Gotham Games hired Cameron Spence, a former SAS officer, as a technical consultant.  With this attention to realism, you can be that you will not be able to simply blast your way through the game's 15 missions.  You'll also have to rely on sound squad tactics and stealth to complete your missions.

Conflict: Desert Storm will present you with a variety of different mission types that will put you on the defensive as well as the attack.  In one mission, you must defend the town of Al Khafji from advancing Iraqi forces.  In another, you will be scouring the desert on a SCUD hunt.  You'll even find yourself in Baghdad itself as you take on high risk rescue and assassination missions.

ScreenshotsThe action in Conflict: Desert Storm is played from the third person perspective.  You'll be able to take control of each member of your four man team as you execute your mission orders.  You'll also have the opportunity to interact with Humvees, tanks, and other Gulf War vehicles.  Once you've completed your mission, you'll be able to improve the skills of your soldiers thanks to the game's experience system.

The game's environments promise to add to the game's immersive gameplay.  Expansive and realistic environments will feature nicely rendered desert and urban environments.  You'll also have to contend with environmental effects such as smoke, haze, dust and shadows.  There will even be time of day effects that will ensure that you face both day and night action.

We'll continue to keep you up to date on the game as new information becomes available.  Conflict: Desert Storm is slated for a Fall 2002 release.
