NCAA Football 2003 will attempt to do more than just give you an update to
last year's game. This year it will strive to capture more of the
collegiate game experience instead of being merely "Madden with college teams."
The
first changes you will see will be in the game's atmosphere. Where would
college football be without its cheerleaders and mascots? You won't have
to ask this question as NCAA Football 2003 will have all new 3D cheerleaders and
mascots. Heck, you can even see which team has the best mascot by playing
them against each other in a football game in the new mascot game mode! In
addition to the cheerleaders and mascots, NCAA Football 2003 will contain all
117 Division I stadiums, and fill the arenas with over 200 team-specific chants
and fight songs. You'll even see other school specific additions such as
pride stickers on the helmets of top players and school specific stadium
entrances and introductions. Is there a particular school you love?
You'll be able to personalize the game's interface based on the colors, logos,
mascots, and music or your favorite school.
A big part of college football is its rivalries, and NCAA Football 2003 will
try to capture some of that competitive spirit. 23 real rivalry trophies
are included in the game to be awarded to you if you beat your arch-nemesis.
You'll even have a trophy room to display them in, along with your conference
championship and player award trophies.
Of course, NCAA Football 2003 is about the football, and you can expect to
see new plays and formations this year, including option variations that can
lead to some wild and wide-open on field action. You'll also get new
player animations and an improved computer AI, and new features such as:
- An enhanced running game.
- New defensive pass coverage schemes.
- Independent defensive audible for the line, linebackers, and DBs.
- Defensive play diagrams.
- Review offensive and defensive assignments drawn on the field.
Play
well and you can watch the stands fill up as your prestige increases. Your
enhanced reputation will also help you recruit better players for the next
season. Don't worry about the loss of your superstar seniors too much;
you'll be able to import them into Madden NFL 2003 and watch their pro careers
blossom.
If you're like me and had to watch in anguish as your school cut its football
program, then you are going to love this new feature: NCAA Football 2003 will
let you create a new team from scratch. You'll be able to customize the
colors and uniforms, the school name and mascot, and select a fight song.
Show those short-sighted administrators how good your team could have been if it
wasn't given the axe!
For those of you looking for more of an arcade experience, NCAA Football 2003
will feature pennants that are earned by great plays during the game.
These pennants can be traded in to unlock secret teams, stadiums, and cheats.
Look for NCAA Football to hit stores in Late July.
