"O.K, so while reading these tips I have decided to share some of my own
madness (or is that maddeness?).
About the ideal play book:
Since I am a freak when it comes to highly strategic sports (tennis may not
apply, even though I appreciate it) I believe in creating my own playbooks.
a) To maximize the efficiency of your playcalling
b) To maximize the balance between run and pass
c) To maximize the player/strategy compatibility
d) To maximize your effectiveness in using specific players.
e) To understand how to attack certain positions of your opponents defenses.
like in Chess!
f) To relieve stress, get rid of bad spirits and scare away racist wing-nuts
from your neighborhood.
CREATE YOUR OWN PLAYBOOK!!!
So ask the oracles about which offensive and defensive philosophies you would
like to develop; and then insert appropriate plays into your playbook.
I myself like a mixture between the West Coast and Heavy running plays and
formations. And as for defense I enjoy an attacking 4-3, but also a conservative
nickel and dime set. It is all about understanding your sense of time and place
when facing an opponent who is ready to rip your head off for a simple
football... crazy no?" - Rebornmaddenite
"This game is really easy once you learn how to dominate the computer
with ONE formation. I win on all-madden by 60 points every game, perfect seasons
3 years in a row now using this strategy.
Create a playbook with some I-Form twin wide receiver (two wideouts split left
and a TE right), and make sure the play "Quick slants" is in the playbook. Quick
slants is easily the most deadly play in the game, throw the ball to the inside
receiver once he crosses to the outside. This play will score long touchdowns,
and works effectively against most defenses.
So quick slants is good, but you should change the blocking patterns so that
both the halfback and the fullback block. Also, change the route of the te to a
flats right route, in case the computer (or your friends) tries to guard your TE
with a LB. This play is now almost unstoppable.
Here is where you turn a good play into a good offense... create a run right
play. This run right will feature> the right guard pulls right, the fullback
lead blocks right, the halfback does a counter step right, and everyone else run
blocks. Run this play when the computer sends both corners to the left side, and
you will rack up running yards fast. Call fake audibles to move the defense
around so that they are in a perfect running position.
Finally, create a pass play where the inside receiver takes one step to the
inside at a 45 degree angle, then runs downfield to the outside at a 45 degree
angle. This play is sort of like "slot pivot" but it works much more quickly,
and more effectively.
set your audibles so that your run right, quick slants, a run left, and another
pass play are all available. Then read the defense at the line of scrimmage, and
exploit its weakness. This will take a little practice, but you will catch on
quickly.
A good trick for running out of this formation is to put in a good blocking
tight end at fullback. If you look around the league, find someone who is fast
with good acceleration and run block, this way he will get out in front of the
running back for big gains. I average over 10 yards per carry on all-madden
using this and a few other plays.
Good luck,
