"In Franchise Mode, improve your draft position by trading your picks
for other team's picks in the same round. Assuming you will finish with a better
record than your trading partner, you can move up in the draft and even acquire
extra picks. I did this during the week of the trading deadline and traded all
of my picks to teams in in the bottom 5 of the standings. Be sure to shop your
trade around. Once you find a team that will trade you, add another higher round
pick (5-7 round) and see if they'll still trade. Multiple pick trading works
best, because once you find a team willing to deal, they will usually deal
evenly.
For example, I traded the Raiders' (my undefeated team) 1st and 3rd round picks
to Houston for their 1st, 3rd, and 6th round picks. Instead of picking last in
every round, I pick in the top 5, and I got an extra pick!" - Mel Kiper
"To confuse your opponent (CPU or Human) run the ball out of passing
formations, and throw the ball out of running formations. And if they start to
catch on to your game plan (if they know football they will) then run the ball
if their linebackers don't bring the blitz and pass the ball in the shotgun
formation if they're blitzing or play in zone or in zone-blitz (works well with
teams who have a great O-line, quarterback, and runningback. ex: Steelers
Broncos Rams 49ers and Jaguars)" - Fred Taylor
"A very successful pass play is in the singleback formation. Use double tight
ends and pick double outs and roll either way. If the quick out is not
available, the receiver dragging from the backside will be. Works to either side
and helps to avoid blitzes." - NORTHCYDER

"On defense use 4-3 whipman and shift d-line L1 LEFT and then shift
linebackers R1 RIGHT. Be the olb on the left side of the screen bump with the
corners and bring safeties up works every time a sack 90 % of the time" - mastermind
